OCV welcomed the visitors A.V.Petrer to CDM on a nice hot Sunday morning missing a few key players through injury and a couple being out of the country. Missing out were Ziri, Brian, Rich, Hamed, Gary and Pablo. The return of Adrian after a long injury was welcomed though.

So OCV lined up in a 352 formation as below

Subs, Steven, Adrian.

The game started very well for OCV with the ball falling to John on the left edge of the opposition penalty area, he volleyed it across the area where it reached Michael on the other side, who played it back in where it was handled by a defender resulting in an early penalty. Liam stepped up and confidently dispatched it into the corner, 1-0.

A few minutes later the ball broke to Liam in the centre of their half who unleashed a shot from 25 yards into the corner of the net, 2-0.

Mid way through the first half, a lapse in concentration on the OCV right let the opposition in to dispatch a shot making it 2-1.

Then the scores were level when from a corner the marking was static and the forward got to the header first making it 2-2.

Just before half time the visiting stroker was breaking with Phill coming back but tripping over the striker which left the striker one on one with Emilio, who confidently made it 2-3.

Half Time and the manager changed it to a 442 system with Adrian coming on in Central defence, Aitor going to right back, Leo left back.

The second half also started well for OCV, with Liam picking up the ball 35 yards out and carrying it into the opposition box, and shooting from 18 yards into the bottom corner. 3-3

Then OCV thought they had took the lead when Michael in the box had a shot, which went in but the defender kicking his foot after the ball had gone, the referee inexplicably ruling the goal out and giving a free kick against Michael, astonishing everybody.

Within the final two minutes Petrer were pushing forward and a cross came in to that back post with their attacker clearly offside, as we saw from a fan recorded video, he put the ball in to the net which was allowed to stand to make it 4-3 to the visitors.

Mark Halsey said again it was individual errors and poor positioning which caught us out and the players need to be more proactive rather than reactive. However there was some great football played and the team has come a long way, and with two or three new players for next season we will be a lot better.

Next Sunday, 30th April is the final game of the season, away to league leaders Torrevieja, time to be confirmed.

OCV travelled the 45 minute journey to Aspe looking to bounce back after the previous poor performance and manager Mark Halsey decided on a change of formation to 3-5-2, which he felt would give a solid defence, an extra man in midfield and allow the two wing backs to get forward and put crosses in for two strikers.

So as usual between the sticks was Emilio. A back 3 of Aitor, Phill and Leo. Wing backs were Mikey and Brian. In the centre of the park were Ricco, Ziri and Manu and the strikers were John and Liam. On the bench we have Rich, Gaz and Hamed.

The game started well with both teams evenly matched, the formation seemingly working well for the away side. For 35 minutes the score stayed 0-0 with both sides playing well and only a couple of half chances for each team. This changed when Aspe won a corner which they converted with a towering header at the back post, their scorer simply rising higher than any other player to convert. 1-0.

Play continued in much the same way for the rest of the first half until just before half time after a poor clearance fell to their left winger who put a speculative shot from distance in with Emilio scrambling back across the goal, the shot beat him and snuck in to the back of the net. 2-0.

That changed the half time team talk as the balance of play didn't reflect the scoreline.

The second half was much the same, two teams battling and playing some good football and cancelling each other out, not much in the way of clear cut chances for either team until with 10 minutes remaining, the Aspe right winger hit a deep cross which unintentionally flew in to the OCV net off the back post and caught everybody by surprise. 3-0.

And that is how the game ended which was a tough game in 28°C heat and all players did well. It was very unfortunate for OCV as the scoreline definitely did not reflect the story of the game, with individual errors and pure luck changing the score, but a good performance and a lot of positives to build on for the last 3 games of the season for hopefully a strong finish.

A few players put in a good performances and a lot of effort with stand out performers arguably Brian and Phill but the manager decided to give the man of the match award to Phill Dewhurst.

Next up for OCV after the Easter break is league leaders Guardamar at home on 16th April.

OCV viajó los 45 minutos hacia Aspe buscando recuperarse después de la mala actuación anterior, y el entrenador Mark Halsey decidió cambiar la formación a 3-5-2, lo que según él, brindaría una defensa sólida, un jugador extra en el mediocampo y permitiría que los dos laterales subieran al frente y enviaran centros para los dos delanteros.

Así que como de costumbre, Emilio estuvo en la portería. Aitor, Phill y Leo conformaron la defensa de tres. Los laterales fueron Mikey y Brian. En el centro del campo estuvieron Ricco, Ziri y Manu, mientras que los delanteros fueron John y Liam. En el banquillo se encontraban Rich, Gaz y Hamed.

El partido comenzó bien, con ambos equipos igualados, y la formación parecía funcionar bien para el equipo visitante. Durante los primeros 35 minutos, el marcador se mantuvo en 0-0, con ambos equipos jugando bien y solo unas pocas oportunidades para cada equipo.

Esto cambió cuando Aspe ganó un córner, que convirtió con un cabezazo imponente en el poste trasero, su anotador simplemente se elevó más alto que cualquier otro jugador para convertir el gol. 1-0.

El juego continuó de la misma manera durante el resto de la primera mitad, hasta poco antes del descanso, cuando un despeje deficiente cayó en los pies del extremo izquierdo de Aspe, quien lanzó un disparo especulativo desde lejos mientras Emilio retrocedía hacia la portería. El disparo lo venció y se coló en la red. 2-0.

​Esto cambió la charla del entrenador en el descanso, ya que el equilibrio del juego no reflejaba el marcador.

La segunda mitad fue muy similar, con ambos equipos luchando y jugando buen fútbol, cancelándose mutuamente, y no hubo muchas oportunidades claras para ninguno de los dos equipos hasta que faltando 10 minutos, el extremo derecho de Aspe envió un centro profundo que voló accidentalmente dentro de la portería de OCV desde el poste trasero, sorprendiendo a todos. 3-0.

​Y así terminó el partido, que fue duro en el calor de 28°C, y todos los jugadores lo hicieron bien. Fue muy desafortunado para OCV, ya que el marcador definitivamente no reflejaba la historia del juego, con errores individuales y pura suerte cambiando el marcador, pero fue una buena actuación con muchos aspectos positivos para construir en los últimos 3 juegos de la temporada, esperando un final fuerte.

Algunos jugadores tuvieron buenas actuaciones y pusieron mucho esfuerzo, con destacadas actuaciones de Brian y Phill, pero el entrenador decidió otorgar el premio al hombre del partido a Phill Dewhurst.

El próximo partido para OCV después del descanso de Pascua es contra el líder de la liga, Guardamar, en casa el 16 de abril.
