Here is a testimony of the father of the child who was injured on Tuesday last week:
What expected to be a dream vacation for my wife and two sons turned into a nightmare. Who could have expected that a public facility in Spain that actively advertises its services to children completely ignores public safety regulations?! An 8-year boy, my son, was just attached to the rope and was drawn by the cable out to the sea. At the same time an oncoming cable with a heavy metal ring at the and of it severely hit the boy across the face.
The facility at that time was operated by the owner himself. His name is Daniel Armas. He saw perfectly well that the child was in immediate danger but did not stop the cable ski! All he had to do was just to press the red button, and the child would have been safe. But he decided not to do it, thinking that the health (and maybe life) of a child from Russia is not worth much. He did not do anything to rescue the boy from the water and my wife jumped there herself because there were no lifeguards on duty. When the boy was recovered to the platform Daniel Armas just casually glanced at him and walked away. NO APOLGY, NO OFFER OF HELP, NOTHING! The boy had to be transported to land on the back of a bystander, an older boy, who offered to help even though there was an idle boat near the platform.
What followed after that is also horrendous. Daniel Armas at first refused to pay even direct medical expenses for the boy's treatment (two visits to a doctor were required because of the severity of the injury, which could have been much worse if the blow hit the boy just a little bit higher or to the side). My wife was humiliated by his staff. Only after 3 days and interference of a lawyer he finally agreed to compensate the direct medical expenses (he got arranged papers that this money will be reimbursed to him by his insurance company, so that the he would not inexperience even the slightest material inconvenience because of what has happened). Again, no apology was offered. In fact he believes that what has happened is NORMAL! This is outrageous. This guy should be stopped. Cable Ski Benidorm should be closed or, at the very least, barred from providing any services to children.

Last week, as a result of flagrant violations of elementary public safety procedures, there were two accidents at Cable Ski Benidorm. On Tuesday, June 26, an 8-year boy was severely hit on the face by an oncoming cable laden with metal. The following day, June 27, exactly the same thing happened to another similar-aged boy.
The owner of the facility says that there are 5 to 10 accidents happening per year and that this is NORMAL. We don't think it is. We also suspect that much more accidents happen each year over there. We do not think that any parent in their right mind would let their child to be anywhere near Cable Ski Benidorm if they knew this statistics.
We encourage everyone who had an accident at Cable Ski Benidorm or whose child was injured there to contact us at [email protected].
