🏏 Weekend Sweep for Dollar CC!
What a weekend for the club! We fielded two squads across two venues, and the results couldn't have been better.

• At Home: Our 1st XI took on the Scotland Over 60s in a fantastic display of cricket at Dollar.

• Away: The 2nd XI traveled to face Stirling CC where our up and coming youngsters thrived.

The weather played ball, the sun stayed out, and most importantly—both DCC teams secured clinical wins!

Huge thanks to the Scotland Over 60s and Stirling CC for two great fixtures. Let’s keep this momentum rolling into next week when we play the Forty Club at home.

Unfortunately we tasted defeat last night in the Capital as we faced off against our great friends the McGlynn Brothers at Myreside.

After winning the toss against ex-DCC legend and occasional tourist Paul Arnold, stand in skipper Adam Buchanan-Smith elected to have a bat. The innings sprinted out of the blocks as both James Priestley and Marcus Tinsley raced past the retirement mark of 25. The scoring rate then slugged as the middle order found difficulty in locating the middle of the bat. The skipper kept up some of the momentum as he too would walk off unbeaten, but a late flurry of wickets saw us finish our 25 overs with a slightly below par score of 147.

In reply the bowling effort got off to a decent start as Jason Syme kept things tight, while Charlie Dunn picked up a key early wicket. However the skill of our opponents soon became apparent as the ball raced over the undulating rugby pitch of an outfield. Priestley’s leg-spin got us back on steadier ground through a wicket, while Pete Matthews too picked up a scalp. Alas it would be too little too late as our hosts, littered with a few Academy FPs, reached the required target with plenty of time to spare.

DCC got back to winning ways yesterday after a gutsy performance to retain the 'Kings of the County' crown with victory over Clackmannan CCC.

In baking hot conditions DCC won the toss and elected to bat, posting 139-9 from their 30 overs with Captain Cammie Glasgow top scoring with a fine 46.

In reply CCCC came out of the blocks in their trademark fashion, scoring rapidly and smashing the ball to all parts of the ground, but with wickets falling regularly, the scoreboard pressure began to rack up on the home side and victory was sealed with CCCC 20 runs shy.

BSB Player of the match: Cammie Glasgow

We were also delighted to be joined in Alloa by icon of the club, Peter Kirkwood (PK).

All good things must come to an end.

Today we fell to defeat for the first time since early May as Largo CC came away with a pretty convincing 7 wicket victory to end our 7 game winning run.

With Captain Glasgow in exile, club legend Adam Buchanan-Smith assumed duties and took the impetus as he spearheaded a steady 50 run opening stand with Richie Nicholson. A string of wickets then turned the tide firmly in hosts favour. But a superb 70 not out (DCC’s highest individual score since in 2022) from Marcus Tinsley took us into the realm of competitiveness, but a lack of boundaries and an overtly defensive strategy brought a plethora of dot balls that kept the scoring rate grounded, which was aided by some fantastic fielding. This saw us finish with a below par score of 152/4 from 40 overs.

In reply, Tim Dillon and Charlie Dunn bowled well to keep required run-rate lagging, but a tough missed chanced under a sky high ball from Dunn proved to be costly. The batsmen in question went on to raise his bat as the hosts dealt with the solid DCC bowling. Late wickets from Dunsire, Prasad, and Turner gave us a sniff of a chance, but in near inevitably Largo wandered past the low total with 6 overs to spare.

Special mention to DCC stalwart Stuart MacMillan (aka Spoff) for making his return to club after a 5 year hiatus.

DCC man of the match: Marcus Tinsley.
