Just two days before the 6th edition of the Benidorm Chess Open kicks off, the team at Hotel Meliá Benidorm welcomed us with a gesture that truly moved us: a chessboard made of chocolate sponge cake, its squares dusted with sugar and topped with white and dark chocolate pieces, along with a welcome letter signed by General Manager Manuel Molina and Guest Experience Manager Begoña Orihuela.
"As in chess, excellence lies in every detail." We can't think of a better way to describe what we experience every year in this house. Behind every room set up, every round that starts on time and every player who feels at home, there is a team that works with care, professionalism and an attention to detail that makes all the difference.
Organising a tournament of this level is possible thanks to partners like Meliá Benidorm, who don't just open their halls to us: they make the tournament their own and look after it just as we do.
From 25 October to 1 November, chess returns to its home in Benidorm. And it couldn't be in better hands. 🏆
