For the first time teaching at Luthier Tap Festival:

Dancer, teacher, and researcher, Gisela’s journey in tap dance began in her hometown of Arenys de Mar before continuing her training at institutions such as El Timbal and Escola Luthier, as well as through international programs and festivals in Stockholm and New York.

Alongside her work as a performer and educator, Gisela has dedicated an important part of her career to documenting and preserving the history of tap dance in Catalonia. Supported by a grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya, she authored Tap Dance in Barcelona: The History of a Community, a landmark project celebrating the people, stories, and evolution of the local scene.

Since 2020, she has been on the board of Tot pel Claqué and, since 2021, has been the organizer of the Maresme Tap Jams, continuing her commitment to strengthening and connecting the tap community.

We’re excited to offer you the chance to join Gisela this summer for two special history classes! Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about Women In Tap and Barcelona’s Tap History💥

Joining the Luthier Tap Festival faculty for the first time:

Originally from Trieste, Italy, Saretta’s artistic journey began through gymnastics and urban dance before discovering tap dance, a discipline that would eventually become central to her artistic path.

After beginning her tap training in Italy, she moved to Barcelona in 2015 to continue her development through the Tap Training Program at Escola Luthier, becoming part of a generation of dancers who helped shape the city’s vibrant tap community.

Over the years, she has participated in numerous artistic projects as a performer, creator, and teacher, working with companies such as UNUM Project and Teatre al Detall, while continuing to develop her own creative work.

We’re especially happy to welcome her to the festival faculty for the first time!

A key voice in shaping tap dance in Barcelona! We are super proud to have with us for another edition!

Born in Tel Aviv and based in Barcelona, Sharon has spent more than two decades developing a distinctive artistic and pedagogical approach to tap dance. As a performer, choreographer, director, and educator, his work has influenced generations of dancers both locally and internationally.

Since joining Camut Band in 2001, he has toured extensively while continuing to create his own body of work through Sharon Lavi Company, producing acclaimed works such as BoomBach, MONKEYS, EPIC, and FRAGMENTS.

Alongside his creative work, Sharon has played a fundamental role in the development of tap education in Barcelona. Through schools such as El Timbal, TAPEPLAS, Coco Comin, and Luthier, he has helped shape a generation of artists and contributed to establishing Barcelona as one of Europe’s most active tap dance hubs.

His influence can be found far beyond the stage: in the dancers, teachers, and communities that continue to grow from his work.

Introducing a special guest for this year’s edition: Yaron Engler 🥁

Drummer, composer, and long-time collaborator of Hofesh Shechter, Yaron brings a powerful musical perspective into the festival with a focused session on rhythm and improvisation.

In this Friday morning class, the work shifts away from steps and choreography, and into listening, texture, and response. Through guided improvisation, dancers will explore how to relate to rhythm more freely, using the body as a musical instrument and expanding their sense of timing, presence, and expression.

Yaron’s career spans major international productions and stages worldwide, but his approach in the studio is direct: creating space for deeper connection to sound, to movement, and to oneself.

A unique session within this year’s program.
