THE REVOLUTION
IN ROLLER SKATING

In 2020 roller skating changed with technical skills being combined with artistry and the judging criteria completely rewritten. The nature of roller skating changed overnight and what roller skaters needed also changed.
This got us thinking about our boots. We realized skaters needed a boot that was quicker to respond that offered more control, that gave them the perfect platform to perform.
We began designing, we began testing, we began developing. The result: a revolution in roller skating, the new Freedom range from Edea.
LAUNCH PLAN
As testing neared completion, wa talked to some of our dealers about the best time to launch. The consensus was a soft launch at the start of 2023, after the busy September to Christmas sales period.

WHY A REVOLUTION
Roller skating is now about technique and artistry. Skaters needed a boot that can deliver precision and agility. Studying skating, we realized that if we could put the skater into a more "prepared" upright position, they would be quicker into maneuvers. They would be in a more natural position, allowing nature and physics to work with them.
We played with lots of variables and researched lots of options but in the end the answer was simple, raising the toes, altered everything and gave the skater a much better, more natural position.
This subtle change in the center of gravity delivered increased control and improved stability. It allowed the athtlete to have greater consistency and cleanliness in the ex*****on of steps, jumps, spins and greater maneuverability of the skate.
The change at the front of the boot also allowed our designers to work on another key area: comfort. The new shape allowed us to increase the volume of the toe area, improving comfort and allowing skaters to perform for longer.

This means that across our entire range, we have introduced new lasts.
