Unlike typical steep coral drop-offs, the heart of Marsa Mubarak features a vast, shallow underwater seagrass meadow. This unique ecosystem is incredibly vital, acting as a pristine feeding ground for massive resident Green Sea Turtles and the rare, elusive Dugong (sea cow).

Flanked by healthy, gently sloping fringing reefs on both sides, this expansive bay is naturally protected from strong open-ocean waves. The result is a calm, pool-like environment with jaw-dropping 20 to 35-meter visibility. Every year, the global diving community comes together to celebrate this incredible day. It was created with a powerful mission: to bridge the gender gap in diving, foster a supportive and inclusive community, and empower women to confidently explore the underwater world.

Here at Blue Ocean, as we look back over the last 15 years, we’ve witnessed a truly inspiring shift. We’ve seen a massive wave of women taking the plunge- not just in scuba diving, but dominating in freediving, leading snorkeling excursions, and simply connecting with nature as passionate sea lovers.

Even more importantly, women have become some of the strongest voices and leading activists in marine conservation and eco-awareness around the world, fighting every day to protect the reefs we love.
