Statement by Red Sea Anglers
We, the Red Sea Anglers, are deeply disturbed and saddened by the recent incident of a Dugong fish being killed by an outsider fisherman from Fayoum government in the south of the Red Sea. The Dugong had been a resident of the area for many years and had become a beloved fixture of the local marine ecosystem. Many visitors frequented the area to witness its beauty and marvel at its unique characteristics.
The Dugong is one of the most endangered species, and any act of harm or violence towards it is totally unacceptable.
We, as anglers, strongly condemn this act of cruelty and call for the authorities to take swift and decisive action against the perpetrator.
We urge the government to enforce the laws and regulations that protect marine life and ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future.
The preservation of the marine ecosystem is crucial not only for the survival of marine life but also for the long-term sustainability of the fishing industry and the local economy. As anglers, we are committed to promoting sustainable fishing practices and protecting the environment for future generations.
We, the Red Sea Anglers, refuse any act of cruelty towards marine life and call for the harshest possible sentence to be imposed on the offender according to the Egyptian law.
We stand in solidarity with those who share our values of environmental protection and urge everyone to respect and appreciate the beauty of the marine ecosystem.
Sincerely
Red Sea Anglers
