Important definition you should know
1. Absolute Strength
Absolute strength is the maximum force your muscles can produce, regardless of your body weight.
Example: The maximum weight you can lift one time in a deadlift, squat, or bench press.
2. Concentric Strength
Concentric strength is the ability to produce force while the muscle is shortening.
Example: When you push the bar up in a bench press, or stand up from a squat — that is the concentric phase.
3. Eccentric Strength
Eccentric strength is the ability to produce force while the muscle is lengthening.
Example: When you lower the bar slowly during a bench press, or control the descent in a squat — that’s eccentric work.
Eccentric strength is usually stronger than concentric strength and is very important for injury prevention and building muscle.
4. Static Strength
(Also called isometric strength)
Static strength is the ability to produce force without any movement — the muscle length stays the same.
Example: Holding a plank, holding a squat at the bottom, or pausing with a weight without moving it.
