📣 Announcement 📣
We've decided to not continue our Olympic campaign together. There are many reasons behind it, the most influential of them is Henri's gluteal muscle injury which has affected the trainings in an unwanted way for years. This choice comes with a mix of emotions, but it also brings an overwhelming sense of gratitude and reflection.
Henri will keep sailing with other boats, and in addition to sailing, focus on his family and working career.
Juuso continues to chase his Olympic dream in a 49er class. After searching for new opportunities Juuso has decided to team up with a Finnish sailor Lasse Lindell. That means Juuso will represent Finland in future 49er events. It was a big and difficult decision to make but looking at the options to develop the most and achieve the goals that felt like the best and only possible way to go.
Sailing Team Roihu will not disappear as we'll do some future sailing projects together and will probably end up sailing together not in the very distant future. We both will continue our competitive sports careers and therefore we'll also keep this channel alive. 😉
We've both been sailing since 2006 and together in the same boat since 2011 (RS Feva, 29er & 49er). We are both extremely thankful for being able to do what we love the most for so long. Sharing this journey as super loyal and dedicated partners, literally, brothers, has been phenomenal. The victories we celebrated together, the losses we endured together, and the lessons we learned together have made us stronger and united us in ways that transcend the sport.
We haven't only developed as sailors but also as human beings and really enjoyed the journey. The values of discipline, determination, and perseverance are now part of our personalities thanks to the challenges, obstacles, and guidance we've faced and received throughout the past 17 years. Some of our best results together were 2nd place in the 29er Eurocup, 20th place in the 29er Worlds, and 4th place in the 49er Junior Europeans. We've also won all the Estonian championships we've participated in since 2012 (10 x 🥇). Separately sailing, a silver medal 🥈 and 5th place in Zoom8 Worlds are a moment to remember as well.
As we reflect upon our journey, we're filled with an immense sense of gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement we have received throughout our sports careers. We will carry on unforgettable memories, invaluable experiences, and cherished relationships.
We'd like to thank everyone involved in our project! 🙏
There are no words to describe our gratitude for the help and unwavering support we've received and it's impossible to thank each and every one of you here separately.
Biggest thanks go to our head coach Maria Veessaar, our family, other coaches as Lenart Kivistik, dear friends, and followers! Thanks to our training partners especially long time teammates Kätlin Kivisild, Anna Maria Sepp, Victor Silén and Christoffer Silen club Tallinna Jahtklubi and federation Eesti Jahtklubide Liit & Ott Kallas, understandable teachers, employers 😁 etc. (the list goes on). Being an athlete wouldn't have been possible without you all.
Huge thanks to our supporters and we're extremely grateful that most of them are staying on board and supporting our new projects. 🙏
Lastly, to all aspiring athletes, dreamers, and believers. Embrace the challenges, embrace the setbacks, and use them as stepping stones to propel yourself forward. Surround yourself with a strong support system, work hard, and most importantly, never lose sight of the joy and love that drew you to the sport in the first place.
With deep appreciation and love, Roihu brothers. ♥️
