You may look at the front cover of Jesse Richman and think that his idea of fun is a little far removed from your own, but what we do on a weekend - although on a much smaller scale - is try to feel like we're living out our fantasies.

Our own environment might need ten kilos of rubber and it's unlikely there's anyone foolish enough to be outside to witness the heroics in the depth of winter in some places, but we manage to escape to another life; a place where gear, knowledge and a sense for survival really count. And we bloody love it, whatever the weather.
