I do my best to maintain physical activity even while on vacation. In my case, activity and constant movement are already at the level of physical need. What to do if you want to spend your vacation actively, but you know that alone you will definitely be lazy? Or are you one of those who need company for sports? Or do you just need a "magic pendel" from the side? In this case, you should consider options for traveling on specially organized tours. In my case, the ideal vacation option is a combination of yoga and running.
For the first time I went on a yoga tour in 2010 with the Perm Yoga Federation and Tokarev Andrey Ivanovich. Then the main discovery for me was that for 2 weeks of constant practice (morning and evening daily), the body gradually acquires new abilities, begins to work differently. Plus, you develop a new useful habit-regular training.
Why go on such tours? The purpose of such a tour, first of all-rest. not just in lazy mode. And the rest is active! It is, I know from my own experience, energizes much more than the usual beach. After such a vacation, you have the strength to solve seemingly complex problems. You can do more than your usual amount of work per unit of time. If you've never run, for example, then the coast is the best place to start. And the practice of yoga on the beach does not compare with anything!
What should I pay attention to when choosing a tour?
1. Tour program and teacher: Who leads? What is the yoga style? What will be presented in the program?
2. Location of the tour: country, city, climate.
3. Accommodation conditions: hotel, place of practice, how meals are organized
4. The cost: what is included in the price of the tour, and what will need to be paid on the spot.
How do I choose an organizer and teacher? If you have never studied with a teacher who will practice on a yoga tour, then it is worth visiting a few of his classes before the trip. So you will understand the load that the teacher gives and will be able to decide whether this style of yoga is suitable for you. If the teacher is located in another city, then read reviews on the Internet, study information about his experience, find videos with his participation. Ask the organizers for feedback from past yoga tours. This is a normal practice. Competent organizers will always help to dispel all your doubts and provide you with complete information about the teacher and the tour as a whole. For example, we with the yoga studio "K'ora" always hold presentations of planned tours, where teachers talk about their programs. You can always ask your questions. And at the end of the tour, we will organize meetings with photo and video reports, stories of participants. By the way, very soon we will hold such a reporting meeting about the yoga tour to India, which took place in March of this year.
Is it worth going on a yoga tour for beginners? Definitely worth it! Of course, you need to check with the organizers about the style of yoga that will be taught in the tour, about the level of load. A competent teacher will always be able to build a practice and explain the nuances so that it is comfortable and understandable to engage both beginners and experienced students. In my experience, even participants with zero training level return from such tours with noticeable progress in practice.
Where better to go? It all depends on your travel preferences and climate. But, in my opinion, you should not refuse to visit a particular country just because someone of your friends did not like it there. Very often, the organizers of yoga tours plan trips so that you visit non-tourist and interesting places, where countries open up to us from a completely different side than when we see them during a normal "package" visit. Again, feel free to ask and take more information from the tour organizers.
What should I take with me from my clothes? The main thing is comfortable and comfortable clothing. I prefer regular leggings and a cotton top. In case of cool weather, you should also bring a hoodie or hoodie with long sleeves. Specify the conditions of your stay in the country where you are going. It happens that a certain dress code is required (for example, in India in Rishikesh it is considered disrespectful when a girl wears shorts) It all depends on where you are going. But most importantly, don't forget the yoga mat.
Should I go on yoga tours? Definitely yes! Yoga tour for me is always new discoveries inside my body. Daily practice makes progress even in those asanas that seemed unattainable to us. The body begins to respond gratefully to your efforts in practice, new interesting sensations appear, and an understanding of deep work in the body comes. And you come back a new person with new horizons, new sensations, new stages of development.
