Kansas City just sent us two newlyweds who apparently looked at married life and said, “Yeah, let’s begin this thing by each of us throwing a leg over a motorcycle and riding across Ecuador.”

Respect.

Tim and Brandi are starting the adventure of a lifetime together: marriage. And for their honeymoon, they’re taking off on our 10-day Backroads of Ecuador tour with Camilo, one of our seasoned guides who knows these roads better than most people know their own driveway.

This tour was built with couples in mind, especially couples who would rather come home with filthy boots, sunburned grins, and stories that make their friends quietly question their own life choices.

They’ll ride through the three worlds of Continental Ecuador: the Andes, the Amazon, and the Pacific. That means mountain passes, jungle air, coastal roads, hot springs, waterfalls, chocolate, dairy farms, and enough curves to make a wedding DJ feel inadequate.

The honeymoon highlights are properly ridiculous:

A hotel built into a waterfall.
An overnight stay on a luxury chocolate and dairy farm.
A private cabin with hot springs right outside the door.
An Amazon canoe expedition.
Cajas National Park.
Baños. Papallacta.
The Pacific Coast.
And roughly 1,304 miles / 2,099 km of Ecuador doing what Ecuador does best: making normal vacations look like a sad sandwich.

All of it guided by Ecuador’s most experienced motorcycle tour operation.

Marriage is a long road. Tim and Brandi are starting theirs with throttle, mud, mountains, jungle, ocean air, and probably at least one moment where one of them says, “I can’t believe this is our honeymoon.”

Congratulations, Tim and Brandi. You picked a proper launchpad.

Want a honeymoon, anniversary, or couples trip that doesn’t feel like it was designed by a hotel brochure committee?

Book the Backroads of Ecuador tour and come ride the good stuff with us.

Eleven days. Hundreds of curves. One seriously good adventure.

Fraser and Artis from Canada just rolled back into Ecuador Freedom after completing our Self-Guided Lap of Luxury Tour, and their verdict was simple: the route was thoughtfully planned, the accommodations were outstanding, and they felt safe the whole way.

That's the sweet spot. Wild roads, volcanoes, coastlines, cloudforest, and enough scenery to make your camera beg for mercy—all without wondering where you're sleeping that night or whether you've taken a wrong turn into the middle of nowhere.

Ride hard all day. Show up to a great hotel at night. Repeat for 11 days.

Fraser and Artis nailed it. Who's next?

Paul and Peter just blasted into Quito from Australia after what sounds like a ridiculous Galápagos adventure, and now these two camera-slinging professionals are pointing their lenses at the Andes.

They’ve been friends for over 40 years, which means they’ve either figured out the secret to lifelong friendship or they’ve just run out of other people willing to travel with them. Either way, respect.

Now they’re climbing into one of our rugged Suzuki Jimny 4x4s and heading straight for the good stuff: the Quilotoa Loop, the Avenue of Volcanoes, hot springs, indigenous markets, crystalline waterfalls, and the deep green madness of the Amazon basin. They’ll even be venturing into Shuar territories, because apparently a normal vacation was too easy.

These guys are professional filmmakers and photographers, so we’re expecting more than a few jaw-dropping shots from the road. Volcanoes, jungle, waterfalls, mud, markets, and two Australians grinning through the chaos — that’s a pretty solid recipe.

Have a great trip, Paul and Peter. Try not to make the rest of us look too boring.

Nine riders. One construction crew. Ten days in Ecuador. This is what happens when a company bonding trip grows a backbone.

Jaxon runs a construction company out of Idaho Springs, Colorado, and this is not his first ride with us. We’ve set him up before with routes that hit hard, ran deep, and gave him the kind of stories you drag back home covered in dust. So this time, he brought the whole crew.

Jaxon, Nikki, Scott, Trevor, Jared, Julio, Jeremy, Brendon, and Michael are all motorcyclists, and they’re about to tear into a 10-day route that drops them into the Amazon basin, hauls them high into the Andes, sends them down to the coast, and then brings them back to Quito with mud on the bikes and stories for years.

We lined them up with programmed navigation and pre-arranged lodging each night, so the logistics are handled. The adventure is still very much alive. And Julio will be running sweep in our Ford Ranger Diesel 4x4, built to keep up with the bikes when the roads get rough.

Along the way, they’ll meet local carpenters, lumber growers, conservationists, farmers, Indigenous villages, cheese makers, chocolate makers, and a wool mill. High in a small Andean village, they’ll also meet high school students studying carpentry and wood carving, because this trip is about more than throttle, gravel, and mountain passes. It’s about seeing how people work, build, grow, carve, ride, and live in places most travelers never reach.

This is a company trip with calluses.
This is team building with altitude.
This is how a working crew does Ecuador.

Want to give your crew something better than another boring company outing? Let’s build your company bonding trip in Ecuador: motorcycles, mountains, jungle, coast, real people, real roads, backup support, and the kind of memories your team will be talking about long after the work boots are back on.

Before the ride begins, there’s the place where the stories start.

Our Adventure Motorcycle Center and Freedom Riders’ Lounge in Quito was built for travelers who love motorcycles, maps, mountain roads, and good conversation. It’s more than a rental shop — it’s where riders get ready, swap stories, relax, and start dreaming about what’s waiting beyond the city.

Take a look inside our shop and see where Ecuador adventures begin:

Alright, riders, history buffs, map obsessives, and anyone who thinks a proper trip should come with altitude, ancient ruins, and a motorcycle underneath you — this one is big.

Ecuador Freedom just launched the first scheduled motorcycle tour through Northern Peru’s “Lost Kingdoms,” and the route is absolutely stacked.

We’re talking 19 days of desert pyramids, ancient kingdoms, high Andean passes, canyon roads, cloudforest switchbacks, and archaeological sites most travelers never even hear about.

Túcume. Sipán. Chan Chan. Cajamarca. Leymebamba. Kuelap.

Kuelap alone is worth the ride — a massive mountaintop fortress built by the Chachapoya people, predating Machu Picchu by roughly 500 years, perched high above the valleys of Northern Peru like it was designed by people with no fear of heights.

And the riding? Nearly 4,000 kilometers of coast, mountains, canyons, and high-altitude roads, including the legendary Celendín-to-Leymebamba stretch — one of those routes that makes your palms sweat and your throttle hand very, very happy.

Five years in the making. First scheduled departure now on the calendar.

Five years in the making, the new tour links the Pacific coast, the desert pyramids, the high Andes, and the remote cloud-forest fortresses of the Chachapoya "Warriors of the Clouds" — opening one of the And...

Ben is back.

He flies cargo for Air Canada, hauling Ecuadorian produce out of Quito and across the map. When he gets a layover here, he knows exactly what to do: skip the hotel-lobby coma, grab one of our bikes, and disappear into the Andes.

This round, he’s pointed toward the cloudforest and the town of Mindo, where the roads get twisty, the air gets wet, the jungle closes in, and your phone starts feeling like a stupid little rectangle you should have left in Quito.

Some pilots go to the hotel bar.

Ben goes riding.

Good man.

Meet Owen.

Boston College grad. English teacher. World traveler. And, apparently, the kind of guy who finishes a job in Spain, flies to Colombia, buys a Hero XPulse 200, and says, “Yeah, I’ll ride this thing around South America for a while.”

That plan was going pretty well until the bike started shaking like it had a personal grudge against him.

Owen tried mechanics in Colombia. He tried mechanics in Ecuador. Nobody could sort it out. Eventually, he threw his hands up and posted about it on Facebook. The motorcycle travel crowd gave him the same answer over and over:

“Get that bike to Ecuador Freedom.”

So he did.

Our mechanics took one look and found the problem: a bent front axle.

Now, the easy answer would have been to wait around for parts from India, where the bike is built. But waiting around is not exactly Owen’s style, and it sure isn’t ours. So the crew got to work, had a new axle fabricated at a local machine shop, installed it, and got him rolling again within a couple of hours.

He’s pointed toward the Amazon basin now, hopefully riding a whole lot smoother than before.

We’ll see Owen again when he comes back through Quito on his way to Colombia, where he’ll sell the bike and move on to whatever wild chapter comes next.

Good luck out there, Owen. Keep the rubber side down.

Look, let's be honest about Machu Picchu.

It's a great photo and a four-hour line. You, 4,000 other people, a selfie stick, and a guy selling water for nine bucks. Everybody does it. That's kind of the problem.

Here's the thing nobody tells you: the good part of Peru is up north, where the tour buses can't be bothered to go. Desert pyramids made of mud brick. Royal tombs packed with gold. Whole stone cities lost up in the clouds. Graves stuck in the side of cliffs. And a road between Celendín and Leymebamba that'll honestly ruin every other road for you — switchbacks, canyon heat, lemon trees in your helmet, one corner after another. You can look at a picture of it. Won't do a thing for you. You've gotta ride it.

So we built the Lost Kingdoms Guided Motorcycle Tour. 19 days. Start and finish at our Quito shop, straight into Northern Peru, back out through the edge of the Amazon and the Andes. Every meal, every ruin, every museum, the fuel, the tolls, the insurance — all handled. Your own room, every night. No nickel-and-diming.
It's a real ride for people who'd rather earn the view than stand in line for one.

Simple as that.

Machu Picchu can keep the crowds. We're taking the empty curves.

Take a look. 👉 https://freedombikerental.com/en/articles/62-guided-tours/160-lost-kingdoms-guided-motorcycle-tour
