With our recent move to the US, there has been some concern regarding the future of Estancia Natura at Spirit Mountain These worries are justified! It is incredibly difficult to run a business from several thousand miles away, and even more difficult to do this in the contact of an afro-forestry venture. Krista and I, with our somewhat silent partner, Jeff Loftsgaarden, have worked diligently over the past 12 years to develop what many believe to be the Best Coffee in the Caribbean. We are as committed as ever, and the plantation has never been in such great shape. Even though the Farm was hit by Roya, a devastating fungus that has destroyed much of the organic Dominican coffee plantations, We are super encouraged by how well we've come through 2014. Our plantation manager, Davy, is committed to the health of the farm, and is slowly bringing the farm back. Anyone who visits the farm today, will note how good it really looks....and this is testimony to the team's commitment to excellence. Thanks to our partners, who are committed to sourcing excellent coffee at a premium price, the future is bright for the Spirit Mountain team!! This year will be our lowest harvest season to date, but we hope to double our harvest by 2016. Stay tuned!!!

Christmas Break up at Spirit Mountain!! The trails were awesome and the weather perfect! 60's and 70's in January!!! It does not get much better than that. Keren will be back again in May for one last run on el Puerco Loco before she heads to Schladming, Austria for a summer of mountaineering and DH mountain-biking. It was great to be back on the trails in the DR.

We all want to give a shout out to Darrell "Dario" Vasquez, who spent the last two + years serving the Spirit Mountain community with a true servant's heart. Darrell served as the primary roast master, keeping everyone happy with awesome brew! He also gave hundreds of people tours of the farm, showing interested folks the "behind the scene" operations of the coffee business! We have all been marked by your love....forever!! Thanks Darrell!!
