FEBRUARY CHALLENGE!!

Squats!!

Pretty straight forward movement. Make sure to set up your feet shoulder with apart. If you have struggle getting depth, consider using a chair to help you find the bottom position of the squat. If you are feeling spicy, maybe turn some days into jump squats or add weight! Make sure to drive your knees out and avoid extra strain by not letting them cave in towards the center! Same format as last month: 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off!

Modifications: step outs: step right foot out to the side raising hands above head & step back to center. Repeat on left side.

Jump into monthly challenges with the first one of the year! Jumping jacks are a simple movement that get the heart rate up!

Happy 2024!!!

A fresh start and new goals have begun! I took time this morning to think and pray into some goals for myself. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I have not been consistent with posting on this page! I have gone through phases of posting workouts & then marathon training & some videos of skills in the gym here and there. But I’m excited for what I feel like the Lord wants to use this page for in 2024!

The mission for FWA was never really clear, so let me start there. I want this page to be something that sustains motivation in healthy physical habits to grow confidence and endurance in all things. I’m praying that tangible physical habits would overflow into healthy mental patterns about ones self, life & others as well as spirituality in growing with God or maybe even deciding to start a relationship with God if you’ve never had one!

I am going to do this with monthly challenges!! Each month there will be a focus on one single body weight movement. Something you can do anywhere & variations to meet your skill level or energy levels that day. Everyday you will be challenged to complete that many rounds of the movement. Starting the month with 1 minute and ending at 30 minutes of movement.

If you have a goal to workout more & care about your physical health then this is for you! Maybe this challenge alone is the entirety of your workout plan. Maybe you use this challenge as a warm up or accessory for workouts you are already completing. Or maybe you are somewhere in between and this begins as your only movement and over the months becomes part of a longer workout. I want this to be something that builds habits that can be sustained even when the motivation and drive maybe is running low!

So, tag some friends to keep you accountable! Here’s to starting 2024 healthy so we can end it healthier than we are now!

A little marathon training update:

After a week of hiking through the mountains of Montana, I was not looking forward to my first routine run getting back on schedule. BUT it’s over, I did it and it rained the entire time. Only smiling because it’s over and now I get to take a nap 🙂

Sometimes there’s no motivation, countless excuses yet still no way around the fact that you just gotta do it! 🫡

The training continues!! A nice smooth 12 miles this morning. A tough run physically and mentally, but it’s over and done! I am so thankful for prayer and the time to enjoy and take in nature and push into Jesus to keep me going when I want to quit on these runs!

I AM BACK!! It’s been a long while but it’s time for an update and workout challenge for you! Memorial Day workout honors Michael Murphy with:
1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 air squats
1 mile run
• you can do this workout as written or break it up to fit your skill level (ex: 20 rounds of 5,10,15)
• this workout is great to challenge your physical ability as well as challenge and push yourself mentally
• if you have a weighted vest and feel confident in the movements, throw it on for some extra spice!!
• substitute movements in for ones you aren’t comfortable with! ( sit ups, banded pull aparts, inclined push ups, banded pull ups, and so many other options!

And another exciting announcement is that I have officially renewed my certification with 2.0 credits of continuing education to continue learning more and balancing FWA as I navigate post grad life and a job as a speech language pathologist!!

JUMPING FOR JOY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!
2 days until Christmas & 8 days until wedding day! So much to be thankful for this holiday season. Adding a wedding to the happiest time of year makes it a lot more special. Happy holidays & Merry Christmas FWA!! 💚

I have been MIA so here is a life update:
❗️I am currently training for a half marathon
❗️ I am almost done with year 1 of grad school and have 1 more summer class left
❗️Wedding planning is in full swing and we are about 6 months away
❗️ I teach HIT classes at a local gym and have been loving it!

& here is your next workout:

800m row

5 rounds
-15 banded hammer curls (each)
- 10 alternating rows (each)

400m row

4 rounds
*8 curls
*8 barbell supine rows

400m row

3 rounds
^10 push ups
^15 banded pull aparts

Have fun with it & challenge yourself! I felt so strong and this workout gave me some confidence I needed as I continue to train! Share it with your friends and get moving FWA🙌🏼
