Her kommer en løbs rapport fra Alison Morrison :
Ascension Day Extra – Event 733
What a special parkrun this turned out to be. Travelling over from the UK and staying with a friend who completed her very first parkrun here today made this visit even more memorable. With the weather playing its part too, it really was a fantastic morning for parkrun.
A total of 53 runners and 8 wonderful volunteers gathered for the event, a much larger turnout than the usual weekly attendance of around 20 runners, boosted by plenty of visiting parkrun tourists making the most of the extra event. Blue skies greeted us and, although rain threatened earlier, it kindly held off until after we had finished.
The course itself was both scenic and enjoyable — an out-and-back section before heading into three woodland loops and then returning on ourselves with a lovely long straight finish that gave everyone a great run-in to the funnel.
Congratulations go to first finisher Henrik, who crossed the line in an impressive 17:28, while Helen was first female home in 25:42. There were also three excellent personal best performances from Milas, Stefan and Maria.
Visitors were very much at the heart of the event, with 26 people attending this parkrun for the very first time. I was lucky enough to chat with many fellow tourists and visitors, including one couple who, by sheer coincidence, live locally to me back in the UK, very nice to meet Katinka and David. I am certain our parkrun paths will cross again before too long.
A huge welcome also goes to Frank, Susanne and Rebecca, all completing their first ever parkruns today! It does become a Saturday tradition! Frank certainly set the bar high today recording the highest age grade with a superb 81.95% on his debut outing — an incredible benchmark for future runs.
Henrik had another reason to celebrate too, reaching his 50th parkrun milestone in style with his first-place finish. Very well done to you!
The title of “runniest runner” for the day goes to Ian, whose staggering total of 811 parkruns shows complete dedication to parkrun over many years. Meanwhile, Nicole reached an unofficial milestone of 99 parkruns, edging ever closer to her next t-shirt, while Maria completed her unofficial “ legs 11 bingo” number parkrun today.
A big thank you, as always, goes to all the volunteers who made the event possible. Tailwalker Wayne from Uk was great company afterwards as we chatted together with Lynn about parkrun tourism and their future adventures in their camped van.
It was also lovely speaking with Sandra and Mark from Yeovil Montacute Juniors about hopefully volunteering and visiting them there in the future. Conversations continued over the delicious cake and coffee kindly provided after the event — definitely worth running for!
Thank you to everyone involved for such a warm and welcoming Ascension Day Extra. Events like this are exactly what makes parkrun so special.
Lovely to meet you all.
