When you know about Rúsina, her story is quite extraordinary. Born as the last foal in 2020, beautiful and healthy. As the weeks went on she didn’t grow properly and it was clear the mother didn’t give enough milk. From being quick and happy she got weak and slow - always many steps behind. At first we were not sure if she would make it or not, and I still remember our talk with the vet, if we should put her down. Could she ever live a normal life? We had to try… In the beginning we had to hand-feed her and she only ate a few grams a day. She was fighter and after some weeks you could see how her energy shifted and the sparkle in her eyes came back. It took a while before she got her name, but it was no question she was our little “Rúsina”. It was decided she should be Saga’s horse, maybe because they were both small, but also we know that the best way to stick with horses is to give them to our children. Rúsina went out with the other youngsters in the spring, and besides from being smaller she was just as happy and healthy as the others. We started her in the winter when she turned 5 years old. Luckily Tekla started working here, and she had the perfect size too. Their development has been beyond expectations and always when they come back from riding, I’m wondering what horse she’s riding - because she’s so impressive in her movements and looks huge with her big steps and energy. We’re so grateful we decided to give Rúsina a chance and look - today she’s a 1st priced mare with still much more to give! Beautifully presented by her BFF Tekla. Now she will have a long and well deserved break in Dallerup and we already look forward to see what the future will bring. Some horses will always be more special and this diamond sure is one of them 💎 Tekla Petersson
