Flash Back Sunday,
Boatspeed 23,6

Though we previously brought you a few pictures of 23,6 by mistake 🙂 then it must be one of the BS23 that take up the most Mb. in my iCloud.

According to Peter Ullrich the 236 was produced with red hull and black waterline by owners order and it went to Western Australia.
Here are some of the first pictures of 23,6 under construction and group photos from Lake Macquarie regatta. You are naturally welcome to add pictures and stories from 1992 and up to date 🙂

This page has been edited, as I really messed up this time with 236 and 235. Sorry. Thx for the info Brian P. Flash Back...

Flash Back Sunday, (again on a monday)
Boatspeed 23,5

Now this is a Boatspeed that has been through some changes, and still is.
It was born with a black hull, red waterline, factory race boat. Hamilton winner. Raced as "Boatspeed Suppliers", FGI/Derakane sponsored.
Peter Ullrich has this little story about the boat. " it was Built for (and launched) at Hamilton Island regatta 1992. While launching for the first race we discovered that the centreboard didn't fit in the case, we had to tip the boat over in shallow water and file the case out. A little embarrassing and we missed the start by 5 minutes but won most of the other races and the series."
235 has been racing in many years and has changed colours a few times. Her present status you can see on some of the pictures.
A new life ?
And the present owner is free to comment on her future as well as the previous owners can share pictures and information about this fantastic 235

Flash Back Sunday,
Boatspeed 23,4 ver. 2
Just a little correction.

As some of you noticed, there have been only one BS build black with a red waterline. This is no. 23,5 and we will hear more about this boat on next week.
No. 234 was build Pearl white and with metallic grey gelcoat in the bottom on orders from the owner. The grey bottom is visible on the few pictures.
In other words it was no. 235 that won Hamilton Island Regatta in 1992, but more about this next week.

Flash Back Sunday,
Boatspeed 23,4

No. 234 well this is just a shy boat, without many pictures in my album.
Is it a black boat, red waterline, factory race boat. Hamilton winner. Raced as "Boatspeed Suppliers", FGI/Derakane sponsored. ( please see correction above )
But the only picture I have is a group photo from the Canberra Regatta where she is pearl white hull.
To the right in this picture.
Anyone with pictures of this shy boat.

Flash back Sunday.
Boatspeed 23,2

“232 was built (late1988 I think) in plain white gelcoat for determining class weight and painted Yellow first. We damaged the paint when the boat dismasted (end of rotating rigs) at the Marlay Point overnight race. The photo of the yellow boat with Solarex sponsorship was 232 wearing the first (ex 18' skiff) non-rotating rig (the paint was still damaged when this photo was taken as this was only weeks after her dismasting). 232 Was then painted Blue and we raced her in that colour for a year or so, finally winning the Marlay Point race by 32 minutes in 1991 and 19 straight line honours in various mixed fleet races.”
Peter Ullrich.

The boat is now located in Kerteminde, Denmark and is taken well care of by me, Jørgen Kjær Frandsen.

Please feel free to ad pictures and stories if any.

Before we proceed to Boatspeed 23,2 we will just round of with the remaining pictures of the prototype 23,1 owned by Mark Carter. The boat was previously named Mr. Squiggle but is now named Carrot Cake.
I have gathered all the pictures we have on the 23,1 Carrot Cake.
( 4 + under construction pictures further down )
If any of you have more pictures, please feel free to ad them.

I would like to introduce you to the illustrated story of the Boatspeed 23.
This will be updatede once a week and even though the pictures might not be in chronological order I will try to give you a little text for each picture.
Please feel free to ad stories and pictures that relate to the specific picture and story.
Boatspeed was numbered by the size 23 and then the production number.
The proto type was named 23 and then added the number 1
Boatspeed 231.
I will name the boats after their production number and hope that you all will use the same system.

This is the launch of the Prototype 231
In Gosford back in 1988 ( i think )
Thx to Peter and Sari for the pictures.
Just added pictures from Brian Partridge.
