Happy New Year!

Today is my favourite day of the year because it is the day, 6 years ago, that I had my last drink.

Some time around 2am, I remember I got a double kraken and coke for the road, absolutely steaming already of course by this point. Tried to get a taxi but ended up trying to fight someone over them littering, so no taxi would take me. (Ended up getting a lift home in an ambulance- a different story for a different day).

Woke up the next morning, ordered a Papa John's alone, thought to myself f**k it, I'll not drink for January.

And now here we are. Some journey.

Massive improvements in every possible way. I am so grateful for that epiphany. For the seeds of information that had sprouted in my brain from listening/watching certain content, that helped me realise how destructive i was being with alcohol still in my life.

We continue on. Year 7 next. Still gotta keep doing the work. It aint easy.

She keeps me accountable in ways no one else ever could.

This is the kind of strength I want more of!

👣Train Atlas Copenhagen👣, is a concept taken from the UK that was a part of semi regularly. Centralised around a run, we add functional movements, take on Scandi Winter weather conditions, and other elements (mud, water, etc) to create adversity on which to overcome. We toughen up, we challenge ourselves as a group, and we come away having achieved.

💪 The FREE workout is announced each Thursday evening for every weekend, for either early Saturday or Sunday morning, on on Instagram and our WhatsApp page.

We go as a team, we go at the collective's pace, and maybe we enjoy a coffee after!

ALL THE EXCUSES 😐

🗣 Moved to a new country 🇩🇰
🗣 Learned how to eat vegan (and finding protein sources) in this not-so-supportive said country
🗣 Been full time dad-ing for 4 months 👨‍👦
🗣 Supported my wife by house-husbanding, while she works and finds time for herself too 🧽
🗣Struggled with lack of purpose and self worth through this time
🗣 Christmas
🗣 January

And probably many other excuses I can't think of right now!

Even if you're not in your ideal situation with your strength and fitness goals, the power lies with you to still ⏰️FIND THE TIME⏰️ to get it done. Even if just to maintain what you have, at least for now.

Maintenance will help you down the line when you do have more time for your gym goals because you'll have kept strong foundations. A springboard in which to then start smashing it!

January is tough for most. It's a long and dark month. But turning up for yourself now will be so beneficial to your future self.

I've only been in maintenance myself because of those excuses listed above. I'm grateful that I've had the time to be with my daughter for that period of time. But now, I can take the next step!

Early yesterday morning, I started , a Danish addition to run by , that I was occasionally part of.

The style of this training has so many benefits, not least to remove the ego from the group. Time, speed, level of previous experience really don't matter here, it's about the collective fighting through the winter elements together, learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

The workouts are centralised around a run of whatever distance, using the landscape to add obstacles (hills, rivers, etc) and encouraging team camaderie to complete the workout.

Being that I now live in Denmark, Scandi winters offer A LOT of opportunities. Hence why I was so keen to start building this community.

First workout was completed, albeit on my own due to cancellations, but I will keep this going each week until end of March (possibly with a few summer workouts thrown in!).

One main thing I noticed from these workouts is my sense of calm and happiness for the rest of the day!

The best feeling ever though: that first hot drink or big meal after finishing, when you can get warm, when you know youve achieved something! Big up for that delicious vegan brunch!

🎃 VEGAN PUMPKIN PROTEIN BALLS🎃

🌱7G OF PROTEIN IN A BALL 🌱

RECIPE HERE 👇

Blend together:
🌱 200g Cashews
🌱 8 Medjool Dates (pit them first!)
🌱 2 tbsp Ground Flaxseeds/Linseed
🌱 2 scoops Vegan Protein Powder
🌱 2 tbsp Pumpkin Puree
🌱 Season with Cinnamon

Blend until a doughy mix has formed, remove the blade from the blender, and roll up your balls to a rubber bouncy ball size!

FUN FACT:
💪 Each ball contains 15% of your RDA iron!
