SAVE THE DATE!
It is our great pleasure to announce that we will be joined by Asano Seiichirō Sensei (8th Dan Kyōshi) and Suzuki Noriko Sensei (7th Dan Kyōshi) on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of October for our annual Autumn Seminar.
Asano Sensei is from the famed Kokushikan University, an elite powerhouse in Japanese university kendo. He has traveled to Asia and Europe on multiple occasions inspiring many with his approach to Kendo. This will be his 3rd time in Copenhagen.
Suzuki Sensei is also a graduate of the Kokushikan University and has made many trips to Europe with senior sensei like Iwatate Saburō Sensei (8th Dan Hanshi). In addition, Suzuki Sensei was also part of the main delegation to the European Women’s Kendo Seminar in 2024.
The last day of the seminar will be concluded with an open competition named The Iwatate cup. It is named after our sensei Iwatate Saburō 8th Dan Hanshi. Our seminar will be focusing on correct kendo fundamentals and building on the knowledge shared in our previous seminars. Furthermore, there will be particular attention given to converting strong fundamentals into clear ippon under pressure in shiai, and how to observe and judge this correctly from the perspective of shinpan.
Participation in the seminar is a prerequisite to enroll in the competition. The competition is open to kendoka up to 5th Dan. The level required to participate in the seminar is 1st Kyu and above.
Language interpretation will be provided by Yosuke Ueda (6th Dan) and Arpad Maksay (6th Dan) from Kenseikai Copenhagen Kendo Club.
We hope to see you there!
