1) When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I discovered dodgeball back in 2016 or 2017. After playing handball for many years, I had taken a long hiatus from team sports, but I deeply missed the camaraderie and competitive drive. A friend convinced me to tag along to a dodgeball session to try it out, and I was hooked immediately.

2) What is dodgeball to you? Dodgeball represents a lot of things to me. On a personal level, it’s a thrilling, fast-paced challenge and a fantastic way to stay active. On a broader level, it’s an incredible global community. It has given me an invaluable network of close friends, both locally and internationally, making the sport feel like a second home.

3) What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team? Even though I currently live in the US, I am incredibly excited to represent Denmark. I want to bring home some medals for our country and prove what we can do on an international stage. Beyond the podium, I want to raise awareness for dodgeball as a legitimate, high-level sport. Ultimately, I hope to inspire more women and female-identifying players to pick up a ball and get involved, helping us grow the community and build a strong, sustainable foundation for the sport in Denmark.

Endnu et Københavnermesterskab i høvdingebold er veloverstået 🤩🤩 Igen vil vi gerne sige et stort tak til alle, der kom og spillede, heppede, sang og råbte med undervejs i turneringen. 1. When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I was playing handball for a short period of time for a TV show, and I realized how much I loved the team vibe. Then I met a guy on the tube in London who played dodgeball back home in Denmark, and I thought it sounded fun. So I decided to join in.

2. What is Dodgeball to you?
Dodgeball is a community where you combine the fun of sports with your competitive side. It also has a sense of nostalgia, as it reminds you of the games you played when you were younger - only now you take it to the next level.

3. What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
I hope we can become the best team in the world, and that I can contribute to that success. I will definitely do my best to help us reach that goal.

More than just a game with balls

Name: Malene Bossen Søegaard

When and how did you get into dodgeball?
I started playing in the summer of 2025. I actually had planned on starting kayaking, but my sister thought that dodgeball was a better fit for me. After a couple of months of consideration I took the chance, and it turns out my sister was right, since it felt like the perfect fit from the very first practice.

What is dodgeball to you?
For me dodgeball is more than just a game with balls. It is a community, laughs and a whole lot of energy. I love that the sport requires both strategy and cooperation, which makes every match exciting. My team means a lot to me. The people I have met through dodgeball gives me motivation, support and a lot of good experiences. Dodgeball practice always feels like stepping into a room filled with great energy and good friends.

What do you hope to achieve as part of the national team?
It makes me proud to represent Denmark and I hope to contribute to making dodgeball bigger here in Denmark, especially when it comes to recruiting more women players. If I can inspire more people to try out dodgeball, it would mean a lot to me. At the same time I hope to contribute to gaining strong results at international competitions and showcase the best sides of danish dodgeball.

Growing the sport at a national level

Name: Emilio Valentin

1) When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
This is my first season playing dodgeball. I come from a handball background, where I played at a high level as a teenager.
I was looking for a new team sport with similarities to handball, so I went to the national dodgeball tryouts and I instantly fell in love with the intensity and fast pace of the game.

2) What is dodgeball to you?
To me, dodgeball is a fun sport that brings out the inner child in everyone.
It reminds me of my middle school days, when I spent most of my breaks playing a game called “chiefball.”
However, dodgeball takes that experience to a whole new level with its advanced tactics and intensity.

3) What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
I hope to contribute to the national team by bringing the skills I developed in handball, while continuing to learn and grow within the sport. I also want to support the dodgeball community and inspire handball players to join, helping the sport grow at a national level.

When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I got into dodgeball in the same way most great life decisions happen: by accidentally saying “yeah, why not?” before fully understanding the consequences. It combined everything I love: teamwork, competition, chaos, and the opportunity to dramatically dive across the floor.

What is Dodgeball to you?
It’s teamwork, trust, and learning how to keep your cool. I love that it brings together people with very different strengths: the fast ones, the tactical ones, the brave ones, and the ones who somehow survive every match by pure luck and confusion.

What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
Of course, I want to help the team achieve strong results and compete at the highest level, but I also want to bring energy, humour, and the kind of fighting spirit that keeps the team going when things get tough.

When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I got into dodgeball in the fall of 2024. At the time, I was looking for a team sport to socialize and explore a new type of activity. Having played handball since childhood, I was looking for a new challenge that offered the same team spirit. I thought dodgeball was fun right away and enjoyed the community that comes with the sport.

What is Dodgeball to you?
Dodgeball means quality time on and off-court with amazing and passionate people who like to improve and grow together as a team and as individuals. I like the psychological and strategic parts of playing dodgeball—which I am still discovering—and, of course, the physical part too. It is a very welcoming community in generel, which I really enjoy.

What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
I hope to develop as a player both on and off the court, technically, physically as well as mentally. I want to improve my tactical understanding of the game to better support my team during training and tournaments, so we can achieve as much success as possible.

1) When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I joined August 2025. I was looking for a sport that was actually fun and I definitely found it.

2) What is dodgeball to you?
Dodgeball has become super important for me in the short time I have been playing. I was struggling with my mental health and Dodgeball suddenly was something fun and exciting at a time not much else was.

3) What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
I want to use the opportunity of training with the best to improve and develop as a player. I would like to reach a level where I can assist my team in international competitions.

An inspiration to other women

1) When and how did you get into Dodgeball?
I started playing dodgeball in 2024. A colleague of mine was going to a trial practice and asked if I wanted to join. I had previously played a lot of handball, so I thought it could be fun to try something new. I quickly discovered how much fun the game is, and honestly, I wish I had known about dodgeball earlier.

2) What is dodgeball to you?
To me, dodgeball is a really fun and exciting sport. It combines strategy, teamwork, and a great team spirit. On top of that, the community is amazing and very welcoming, which makes it both a competitive and very social sport.

3) What do you hope to achieve as part of the national Dodgeball team?
I feel very happy and honored to have the opportunity to represent the Danish national team. I hope to continue developing as a player and learn as much as possible from my talented teammates and coaches. I also hope that I can help inspire more women to start playing dodgeball.

1) When and how did you start playing dodgeball?
I started playing dodgeball in November 2024. I was looking for a ball sport and then randomly came across the DC Tyrol Turtles online. I read about the rules and the game, and was immediately fascinated. After that, I really wanted to try the sport myself and eventually joined the team.

2) What does dodgeball mean to you?
Dodgeball means teamwork, unity, and the joy of sport to me. At the same time, it motivates me to constantly improve and grow stronger together with my team.

3) What would you like to achieve as a member of the national dodgeball team?
As a member of the national team, I want to represent my country in the best possible way, gain international experience, and achieve success together with the team at international tournaments.
