➰ My Pilates Story | Astrid
I first joined the Back Care Pilates programme from November 2023 to March 2024, and then I took a break to finish school. I started again in January 2026. Having always been active in team sports, I never really focused on strengthening my body through structured training. I wasn’t sure if Pilates was something I could manage, but Nadd is highly skilled and supportive; she even guided me through an initial consultation before I began.
I’ve had chronic back and hip pain since I was 12, and nothing really helped. I didn’t want to rely on daily pain medication, so I decided to reach out. At the time, my mood was affected because I was often in pain, and I avoided many activities out of fear they would make it worse.
One of the first things I learned from the programme was to slow down and breathe properly so I could focus on controlled movements. That helped me understand how to move through exercises without triggering pain. That was a chance forward because I could start building core strength without discomfort. The turning point was when I stopped fearing the pain the next day; I finally felt in control of my own physical well-being, knowing my body was capable. Now, my energy levels are high and I rarely experience back pain. My posture has improved,
I’m much more aware of how I stand and move, and I can finally touch my toes!
As I prepare to go away to further my studies, I’ll truly miss the sense of community during training, working through challenges together, celebrating each other’s progress, and the cozy moments before and after sessions. And of course, I will miss Nadd’s positive energy and professional, high-quality teaching, which has made such a huge difference for me.
