In honor of World IBD Day, May 19th, I want to share this memory from 2017 💜 This video is from the very first Zumba® performance with team Brabrand.
✅ What you see: amazing Zumba® ladies (and a few brave guest dancers) spreading the joy of dance and Zumba® to the whole applauding town. A beautiful performance 🏅
📛 What you DON’T see: the pain, tears, fatigue, sleepless nights, endless bathroom trips, missed classes, and painkillers behind the scenes.
At this particular time, the situation was extreme 🤯 I was in the middle of a severe flare-up and spent most of my days in bed with missed classes and failed exams. But despite cancelled Zumba® classes, I couldn’t bear the thought of letting my team down, so I filmed the choreography from home, sent it to the participants, showed up for the performance — and then went straight back home to bed again 🫠 *I cannot recommend others to do that, and that was definitely the first, last and only time that happened 😂
Living with an autoimmune disease comes with many invisible struggles and the side effects are many — flare-up or not. Be kind to one another. Not all diseases or disabilities are visible ❤️🩹
