Over 90 years of experience - since its start in 1921, HANWAG has developed and produced quality footwear in its headquarters in Vierkirchen, near Munich, Bavaria. The company is dedicated to craftsmanship, quality, innovation, and the highly skilled employees. Yet, more than ever, HANWAG believes that its philosophy is the right choice to ensure long-term growth. Therefore, the new headquarters – including administration and production – remain in Vierkirchen. While most companies are looking worldwide for the cheapest production costs, HANWAG has consciously chosen a different path.

Out colleague Cody hiked the Four Pass Loop in Colorado’s Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness over the course of 3 days. The route covered more than 48 km with around 2,740 m of elevation gain, crossing four high passes above 3,660 m: West Maroon, Frigid Air, Trail Rider, and Buckskin. 🥾

Golden Aspen trees, the iconic Maroon Bells, huge alpine views and a well-earned meal by Snowmass Lake made this one of their most memorable backpacking trips. ⛰️

A few tips from Cody:
1️⃣ Plan well ahead, a permit is required and campsites are limited
2️⃣ Keep a close eye on the weather
3️⃣ Start early and aim to cross the passes before afternoon thunderstorms

When to go:
- July/August for wildflowers
- Mid to late September for fall colours

Our colleague Niklas hiked the West Highland Way in April - 160 km through the Scottish Highlands, with 3,878 m of elevation gain over 8 days. 🥾

From forests and rolling hills to incredible Highland views, every day brought something new. And yes, the Scottish weather delivered the full package: rain, wind, hail, snow and sunshine. 🌦️

A few tips from Niklas:
1️⃣ Go in April for fewer crowds
2️⃣ Waterproof boots are a must, the trails can stay wet and muddy even when it’s not raining.
3️⃣ No need to overplan your food stops, there are plenty of places along the way to grab a meal or restock.
