So I doubt Jillian knew what was coming for her. But did she think that all the nominations, performances and hitting Billboard #1 was not a celebration of her music? No she was wanting to tell us what we are allowed to celebrate... 🙄
I am proud that we are better at defending each other these days!
What Jillian did, or actually, how many reacted I believe shows how painful shaming is, nevermind doing it publically.
When we choose to belittle others, we are doing damage to them but also to others who look like, connect with, and see value in them. 😖
Jillian spoke what the majority of people, even those who are overweight, feel, that they are less than and should be humiliated into changing, censored, and open for public disgrace or discussion.
It starts when parents talk about our bodies as children in a negative way (often with the best of intentions). When teachers or peers comment and the whole society believes this is the way motivation works. "If you feel bad enough, you change." 👀
Unfortunately, many have experienced that when you feel bad enough, you get worse. Many have died from this sad and outdated practice.
I've learned that self-criticism makes you a threat to yourself, increases your stress, and hurts you deeply, causing more traumas from which to heal. 😭😭😭 Our society and media messages do enough of that... Love yourself and care deeply for yourself; that is the only way to heal.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 The better we get to accepting that health, happiness, and success come in many shapes and sizes, the better we will all be.
