Studierende entwickeln Zukunft der Luftfahrt: holt die Air Cargo Challenge 2026 nach !

🛩️Nach ihrem beeindruckenden Sieg bei der Air Cargo Challenge 2024 wird die DGLR-Nachwuchsgruppe Akamodell der im Sommer 2026 eine der bedeutendsten studentischen Engineering-Challenges Europas ausrichten. Rund 300 hochmotivierte Ingenieurstudentinnen und -studenten werden vier Tage lang innovative Transportflugzeuge in modernster Faserverbundbauweise entwerfen, bauen und fliegen.

🛩️Das Team von Akamodell entwickelt High-Performance mit dem Ziel, die Grenzen des studentischen Flugzeugbaus neu zu definieren. Die Air Cargo Challenge ist mehr als ein Wettbewerb – sie ist eine Plattform für zukünftige Luftfahrtingenieure, ihre Kreativität und technische Expertise unter Beweis zu stellen.

🏆 We are proud to announce that we have won the Air Cargo Challenge 2024! 🚀

Our aircraft most notably featured a retractable main landing gear, completely enclosed within the wings. This innovation, combined with our extensively optimized aerodynamic design, advanced lightweight structures, and manufacturing techniques, allowed us to gain a strong lead in the competition and ultimately secure first place.

We sincerely thank our main sponsors, MTU Aero Engines, Chaservo, and Multiplex Modellsport GmbH & Co.KG, for their unwavering support. Our gratitude also extends to the Universität Stuttgart and the Universität Stuttgart – Institut für Flugzeugbau (IFB) for providing the premises for our workshop and their continuous support for the Akamodell Stuttgart e.V.

We are looking forward to hosting the next ACC 2026 in Stuttgart!

We are thrilled to disclose our model for the upcoming Air Cargo Challenge 2024 in Aachen!

Although we were quite secretive about it, the team has been hard at work since last August!

The design process started with the publication of the regulation, after which we swiftly set up a wind tunnel test campaign to test a multitude of propellers and get data for the new aircraft design framework that our team has developed.

Once we had the data, the following months were used to select the overall configuration, optimise the sizing of the aircraft while trading different airfoil and propeller options.

The construction of the molds then took place at the beginning of the year, followed by the building of the model using our tried and tested construction method.

The first flight successfully took place last week, and the flight performance is meeting every expectation! A second model is already in construction!

Mittlerweile beginnt die Arbeit an unserem ACC22-Projekt sichtbar zu werden. Die Auslegung ist abgeschlossen und wir fangen an die ersten Teile zu fräsen!
Wir bedanken uns bei RAMPF Group] für die Bereitstellung des Blockmaterials. Wir verwenden hier RAKU TOOL MB-0720.
Auf dem Foto ist die Herstellung einer Form für ein Windkanalmodell unseres Profils zu sehen. Wir haben das Glück, dass wir dieses am Institut für Luft- und Gasdynamik vermessen können.
Wir würden am liebsten mehr zeigen, aber weitere Details müssen erstmal geheim bleiben 😉

Meanwhile, the work on our ACC22 project is starting to become visible. The layout is complete and we are starting to mill the first parts!
We would like to thank RAMPF Group] for providing the board material. We are using RAKU TOOL MB-0720 here.
On the photo you can see the production of a mould for a wind tunnel model of our profile. We are lucky to have the opportunity to measure it at the Institute of Aero- and Gasdynamics.
We would love to show more, but further details have to remain secret for now 😉

Wir freuen uns sehr anzukündigen, dass uns mit ihrem Carboweave Material für die nächste Air Cargo Challenge erneut unterstützen wird.
Die Akamodell arbeitet seit einigen Jahren mit diesem Material und kann mit Überzeugung sagen, dass Carboweave die beste Wahl für die Herstellung ultraleichter Carbonteile ist. Es ist in extrem niedrigen Flächengewichten erhältlich und lässt sich sehr leicht tränken, so dass nur wenig Harz benötigt wird. Weiterhin sind Handhabung und Zuschnitt sehr einfach. Alles in allem lässt sich Carboweave sehr gut verarbeiten und ermöglicht die Herstellung von hochwertigen Bauteilen!

We are very happy to annonce that will support us once more for the next Air Cargo Challenge by providing us their famous Carboweave material.
The Akamodell has been working with this material for a few years now and we are confident to say that Carboweave is the best choice for producing ultra lightweight carbon parts. It's available in extremely low area weights and it is wetted very easily, needing very little resin. Furthermore the handling and cutting is very simple. All in all it makes it a particularly enjoyable material to work with and allows the manufacturing of very high quality parts!

Unser neuer F3J Prototyp konnte vergangenes Wochenende am Wochenberg ausgiebig getestet werden. Ein wirklich tolles Flugzeug.

Zwei Erstflüge am gleichen Tag. Neue Konstruktionen mit Nervenkitzel.
Links Etienne mit seinem Motorsegler "Snoopy".
Geglückter Erstflug mit dem Rippenflieger.
Auch Tobias konnte man die Spannung vor dem Erstflug mit dem 3,6m F3J Prototyp F3J "Saphira". Vorm Resultat war er jedoch dann überaus begeistert.
