AI is changing how knowledge is created. Work is changing. Education is changing.

The challenge is no longer whether learning systems should adapt, but how.

That is why OEB 2026 brings together voices from across education, workplace learning, government and technology to explore one of the defining questions of our time: How do we ensure that technological advancement strengthens agency rather than dependency?

These are not questions that can be answered from a single perspective. They require dialogue across sectors, disciplines and borders.

🌍 Reflecting on her experience at OEB, keynote speaker Aruj Khaliq described it as "a cross-country exchange, bringing together a diverse group of educators, scientists, and policymakers from around the world. It has been a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, build together, and imagine what the future of education could look like.”

That international exchange of perspectives is what makes OEB unique.

If AI can generate the answer, what counts as thinking?

In her latest OEB Insights article, Professor Gilly Salmon argues that the real intellectual work is moving upstream.

As generative AI becomes embedded in learning, assessment and research, value increasingly lies not in producing outputs, but in framing questions, clarifying intent, refining prompts and exercising judgement.

💡 Prompting is not simply a technical skill. It is where agency, trust and human capability are put into practice.

What kinds of thinking are we inviting, encouraging, or closing down?

Why do so many learning initiatives create momentum, but struggle to create lasting change?

A new article from Geraldine Voost and Henriette Kloots explores a difficult question for L&D: what if the issue is not the learning itself, but the conditions around it?

From leadership behaviour and collaboration patterns to workload, incentives and work context, this article argues that impact depends on much more than content alone.

If knowledge is increasingly accessible and AI is changing how work happens, where does the real value of L&D sit?

Maybe not only in delivering learning, but in designing the conditions that allow it to stick.

What changes when you experience OEB at the start of your career?

For Keanu Pense and Buena Galleposo, the OEB 30 Under 30 Programme was not just about attending a conference. It was about confidence, visibility, new perspectives, and learning what happens when younger voices are given space to contribute.

From standing on stage for the first time, to challenging assumptions, building networks, and finding confidence in professional spaces, their stories show why programmes like this matter.

💡 The 30 Under 30 Programme is built around contribution, not observation.
🌍 International connections and cross-sector exchange.
🤝 Dedicated activities, mentoring opportunities, and access to the wider OEB community.
