Standardisierte Ausbildung und Ausrüstung erleichtern die Projektdurchführung

Countless ships found their last rest in the rough coastal waters outside Kristiansand in Norway. A lot of the wrecks are still not located and it is the proverbial needle in the haystack to find them. But that is exactly what Adykk Divecenter and Agder-Tech is famous for. Part of the search strategy is talking to local fishermen and looking for information in the archives. Then comes mapping the seafloor with Sidescan Sonar and ROV. But the real challenge is identifying the wrecks during actual dives. This week a group of twelve GUE Tech2 divers and GUE Instructors from Germany and Denmark is on site in Skottevik Feriesenter with the task of documenting the wrecks with video, still photos and measurement. Already on day two of the project, three unknown wrecks were documented during 13 dives in depths down to 78 metres. A lot of work will be done during the rest of the week. A few sonar images are raising questions, which hopefully will answered by the team. Stay tuned for daily updates.

Unzählige Schiffe fanden ihre letzte Ruhe vor der rauen Küste vor Kristiansand in Norwegen. Viele dieser Wracks wurden noch nicht lokalisiert. Sie zu entdecken entspricht der sprichwörtlichen Suche nach der Nadel im Heuhaufen. Doch genau dafür ist das Adykk Tauchcenter und Agder-Tech bekannt. Als Teil der Suchstrategie wurden viele Gespräche mit lokalen Fischern geführt und Archive nach Informationen durchforstet. Anschließend folgte die Kartierung des Meeresbodens mit Sidescan Sonar und ROV. Die größte Herausforderung jedoch besteht in der Identifizierung durch Taucher. Diese Woche ist eine Gruppe von zwölf GUE Tech 2 Tauchern und Instruktoren aus Deutschland und Dänemark vor Ort im Skottevik Feriesenter um die Wracks mit Film-, Foto- und Messtechniken zu dokumentieren. Bereits nach zwei Projekttagen wurden in 13 Tauchgängen drei unbekannte Wracks in bis zu 78 Metern Wassertiefe dokumentiert. Für die verbleibende Woche gibt es noch viel zu tun. Einige Sonarbilder werfen Fragen auf, die durch das Team geklärt werden sollen. Weitere Informationen folgen.
