The whole Munich Colmcilles community are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Pat Stakelum.

Our club could not have asked for a more dedicated or genuine member than Pat. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and no task was ever too big or too small. Pat played a huge role in building the club into what it is today, working tirelessly in the background and never seeking recognition for his efforts.

Pat was a kind, selfless, witty, and gentle soul, immensely proud of his family both in Munich and in Thurles. A great storyteller, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went, and we will cherish the many wonderful memories we shared in his company.

He supported the Munich Colmcilles in every way possible and was a truly loyal and valued member - the kind every club hopes for.

Pat will always be remembered within Munich Colmcilles and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Christopher, Daniela, Frank, Robert, Noel, Conor and all of the extended Stakelum family.

Round 1️⃣ Zürich🇨🇭
Central East Europe Football Championship

Our footballers headed to Zurich for the opening round of the 2026 season and a big thanks to for hosting us !

Our ladies team had a strong start winning their first 2 matches and ending the group stages with a tied game vs Berlin. They were unfortunate in the end in the final against a tough Berlin side.

Our men’s team had a few challenging matches but came out ahead of Basel/Rome.
It was great to get back out on the pitch and we look forward to a great season 🏆👏🏻

We also had some of our men team up with and our ladies with / , was great to play alongside you !

Our next tournament will be Berlin in June, looking forward to get back training again in preparation 💪🏼

Munich Colmcilles 25th Anniversary Celebration - Tickets are on sale now! 🎟️🎟️

We’re excited to announce that tickets for our München Colmcilles GAA e.V 25th anniversary dinner on the 4th July 2026 are on sale now via eventbrite - Link shared in our bio !

What to expect:

9am to 12pm : Join us for our *free event* at SV Gartenstadt Trudering e.V.
Heinrich-Wieland-Str. 102, 81735 München.
We will be hosting games for all codes and expect a lot of fun!

From 5pm: Join us for our anniversary dinner at Augustiner Stammhaus.
(Your ticket will include a welcome drink and dinner)
Expect good food, amazing people and a trip down memory lane of the past 25 years of Colmcilles.

We are delighted to also announce that 8 time All Ireland winner and 2 All Star Award winner Michael Darragh MacAuley will join us a guest speaker. As a former Dublin/ Ballyboden St Enda’s Gaelic footballer, we look forward to hearing his thoughts and insights into the world of the Gaelic Games.

We hope you can join us on this momentous occasion as we celebrate the fun and spirit of the Gaelic Games in Munich.

German Cup Hurling Champions 2026 🏆

We are so delighted to share that for the second year in a row, our Munich Hurlers are defending champions of the Chris Hennessy German Cup 🇩🇪

Not only did we come away with the win but our own Thomas won MVP of the tournament, very well deserved 👏🏻🏅

We had 17 players representing Munich at the tournament and they all did us extremely proud, each player contributing a huge amount to each game and showing skill and determination right until the final whistle.

Munich excelled during the group stages, putting lots of points on the board early on.
I think a lot of people will agree, that the semi final vs was fantastic to watch and an absolute nail biter right until the end with Munich getting a late goal and finishing 1 point up!
Our Hurlers ended the day strong with a convincing win over Hamburg.

A big thanks and shoutout all the teams, each putting in big performances every game!

It was an absolute fantastic day and thanks so much to for the great organisation and hospitality!

☘️St. Patrick’s Day Festival 2026☘️

It’s that time of year again!
Preparations are well underway for the 2026 St.Patricks Day Festival weekend! 🇮🇪
All our members are busy planning for one of the best weekends of the year!

As usual Munich Colmcilles will be running a bar, this time on Sunday offering Guinness, Helles and soft drinks. We can’t wait to welcome you all down to celebrate with us!

The Parade will also take place on the Sunday and we will keep you updated with more information.

Following the success of 2025, we are excited to announce our annual München Columcille’s fundraiser; Running Dinner is back in 2026!

1. Find your best cooking partner (teams of 2 only!)
2. Choose a team name @ (be original!) - For an element of surprise we recommend not sharing your team name until the night
3. Fill out the survey linked in our bio before Sunday

4. You will receive a message from us with your different stops and your assigned course
5. Share food and make memories with new people!

Registration fee: €30 per person 💸

We had a record 61 participants last year and we are looking to build on that this year🏃‍♀️🍽️🏃‍♂️

Munich GAA travels to Annaghdown 🇮🇪

Our Camogie and Hurling team were delighted to be invited to Annaghdown in Galway last bank holiday weekend.

For some of our members, it was their first time playing on Irish soil 🇮🇪 Between the sun and rain every 10 minutes, they really got the full Irish experience☀️☔️

Big shout out to who also travelled over! Our ladies teamed up together and gave Annaghdown a run for their money.
It was great to see both teams kitted out and representing Germany in Ireland - a real showcase of the talent and skill growing across Europe

Thanks so much to the organisers, volunteers and players in who were so welcoming. Our members had a fantastic weekend and we are so delighted and honoured to have taken part in the day.

And of course a huge thank you to our members Kellie, Cathal and Thomas who were fantastic to organise everything during the weekend!
