Do you have mixed feelings about the holiday season?
I sure do 😅
As much as I enjoy the general atmosphere of cheerfulness and winter wonderland - growing up in West Africa I kind of missed out as a child / teen - a part of me doesn't feel aligned.
There's the consumerist behaviour, the accumulation, the overflowing shelves and the chocolate Santas that've been available for over a month now.
There's the thought that many won't have a nice Christmas, whether they give value to it or not. The homeless, the people in war zones, the people in poverty, the people who are alone, the elderly, the outcasts, the misfits...
There's the fact that my French family will be together, without me. I am responsible for that as I made the choice not to travel at Christmas since my pregnancy, not willing to carry heavy luggage back and forth. Still, I'll miss them. And the food!
Around me I see friends fretting because they MUSt do this, prepare that, they HAVE TO bite their tongue because they don't want to offend X or Y, they feel COMPELLED to accommodate everyone, give priority to other people's desires, come second in their own life.
Everybody's super busy: mentally, physically, emotionally.
So I've been inspired by the advent calendar I crafted for our home years ago, and thought it would be nice to open a self-care door every day.
It's nothing compulsory and totally adaptable depending on what you need and feel. But if you don't know where to start, and yet feel that you need to give yourself some form of priority daily, then head towards my bio and find the link to the calendar download. Or copy/paste this link:

The prompts and suggestions will help you look after your well-being, which is indispensable when you tend to over-give and over-do!
If you decide to use it, let me know how it worked for you 🙏
