We had a cacao circle on our latest “date with yourself. The Yoga day retreat.” 🍫 with the delicious cacao from 💛

The history of cacao dates back to ancient civilizations such as the Olmecs, Maya, and Aztecs. These cultures held cacao in high esteem, utilizing it in various aspects of daily life and ritual. 🫘
The Maya civilization considered cacao sacred. Mayas offered it to god “fire”.🔥
Cacao beans were consumed as a beverage mixed with
spices. The Olmecs are believed to be the first civilization to cultivate cacao. Archaeological evidence suggests they used cacao to create ceremonial drinks. The Aztecs also revered cacao, referring to it as “xocoatl.” They believed it was a gift from the god Quetzalcoatl. Cacao was a luxury item, reserved for the elite, warriors, and priests. It was also used as a form of currency.💵
Next to its spiritual aspects it also provides a lot of health benefits such as magnesium, flavonoids and antioxidants. 🧘🏼♀️
