🌟 Meet Percy, 87 years young. 🌟
Yesterday he was out in St Ives refereeing a kids’ match, just like he has done every week for decades.

Percy refereed his very first game back in 1973. That’s over 50 years of giving his weekends to grassroots football. 👏

And here’s the thing – grassroots football doesn’t just happen. It only works because people step up. Referees, coaches, linesmen, team admins… every single volunteer keeps the game alive.

The best part? You don’t need to be 87, a qualified referee, or a superhero. You just need to be willing to give a little bit of your time.

The community of Langa, in Cape Town, South Africa, is host a major youth football showcase from 24–28 September 2025.

Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns FC star Gareth Ncaca, through his foundation, is staging the Under-20 Football Tournament, featuring 20 teams.
