German Champions 2024!
DUC Krefeld wins the German Championship in Underwater Rugby.
In an exciting final, DUC Krefeld narrowly defeats TSV Malsch 1:0, becoming the German champion in front of their home crowd at the Bockumer Badezentrum. In a rematch of last year's final, the match was closely contested. Both teams consistently pressured each other with aggressive forechecking, disrupting each other's build-up play and denying scoring opportunities. In the 9th minute, Jannik Graf capitalized on a mistake by Malsch, intercepting a free kick and immediately passing to Philip Kreißig, who sprinted forward and scored the lone goal into the unguarded Malsch basket, giving Krefeld a 1:0 lead.
In the second half, Malsch became more offensive and aggressive, creating two unused chances. Krefeld also had scoring opportunities but couldn't convert. With the German Championship win, DUC Krefeld qualifies once again for the International Champions Cup of the domestic Champions 2024 and will have the chance to defend its title as club world champion in November 2024.
In the third-place match, TC Bamberg defeated SV Rheine 4:0, securing the bronze medal.
