Looking back at the Semi Finals in Munich! 🏉

Our men’s team fought hard but unfortunately came up short against the Berlin Crocodiles. They got off to a strong start, scoring the first two goals of the game, but the Crocs fought back and took the win.

While our men were battling it out in Munich, our Lions family back home gathered in Cologne for a viewing party, cheering them on from afar! ❤️🦁

We’re incredibly proud of the team and everything they achieved this season, including some great wins along the way. 💪

Now it’s time to reset, come back stronger, and make another push for a spot in the Grand Final next year. 🏆

And that was the last game of the season before the finals.
The men ending with a great win.
The women ending with two losses, but a huge overall improvement over this season, with a lot of new faces joining the team.
We're looking forward to the next season!

🖤Last week we received the heartbreaking news that our friend and teammate Waldi has passed away.

Waldi had been part of the Rheinland Lions family since 2011 and was a highly valued teammate and friend to many of us. While he stepped back from playing a few years ago, he always remained a part of our Lions family.

This weekend, we will remember Waldi together. Our players will wear black armbands as a sign of respect and remembrance.

You will be missed, Waldi.
Once a Lion, always a Lion. 🖤

Our last gameday of the season will also be a celebration of 20 years of Australian Football in Cologne 🎉

We have 4 exciting games waiting for you. While our men already secured there spot in the Semis our women still have a fight ahead. They need to win both their games to still be in the run.
So come down to Bocklemünd, support them from the sideline and enjoy a cold drink or something hot from the bbq.

We would love to see many old and new faces there or at the afterparty 🦁🥂

On the last Saturday of July, the Lions hosted the Berlin Crocs , under the mild sun and stunning weather at the Mund. 🌞
The Lions looking for their first win over Berlin in 10 years, were helped by Deutsche Bahn, already putting time pressure on the Crocs to provide on the socreboard.
The first quarter started, and the Lions came out roaring, kicking a few quick goals before Berlin settled with a goal of their own. At quarter time the Lions were leading by a few goals.
In the second, the Crocs wrangled back kicking some goals of their own closing the margin to 6 points. However, the lions kicked two in under 30 seconds to go up ahead again. The third and fourth quarters with relentless pressure from the Lions had an answer for every Berlin goal, even extending the lead to win 7.12 - 54 (Crocs) to 14.13 - 97 a win to go down in Lions modern AFLG history. 🎉🦁

Big shoutout to the goal umpires and Umpire Maria for adjuticating the game on her own!

In Berlin Elena reached the 25 AFL Germany games milestone 🎉 She is only the second women in the club doing so and we are very happy to have her and her dedication on board.

Impressions from our joined trip to the capital.

Couldn't score a win that day, but left it all on the field. 🦁💪🏼

Thanks to Berlin Crocs for hosting a great pride round and to the Kiel Koalas AFC for still sending some players despite their forfeit. We really enjoyed having you in our team.

Our men will already see the Crocs again on the 1st of August for a rematch.

We are ready for our last away game of this season.
Both our men and women will make their way to Berlin on Saturday. 🎉

Our Women will start at 1:30pm, followed by the men at 14:45pm. 🕕

As the Kiel Koalas AFC had to forfeit their game, our men will play one competitive 9-a-side half, followed by a friendly 12-a-side one.
