Gelsenkirchen vs CLK :
The first contrast that you see between CLS and CLK is not the pace of the bowlers or the power of the batters. It begins before the game. Firstly one player had signed a new sponsership deal with Oakley. Secondly was the manner in which they travel to the ground. Ihsan was first in the 9-seater, took off his shoes and fell asleep. In order to sit as far away from his feet as possible, three guys squeezed into the front, leaving 5 empty places behind.
The rest of the team chose to wait four hours, or travel via Holland to avoid the toxic combination of feet and farts.
On match day CLK are able to start with two natural out-swing bowlers and a natural in-swing bowler. Their best balls with the new ball were too good, but they over-pitched at times and runs flowed. Imran also has the luxury of spinners who actually pitch the ball. Tirth in the power play and then Rohit brought the run rate down but will be disappointed that they bowled the odd short ball which got dispatched. One constant between the sides is the catching. First Karthik lost one in the sun, the sponsers insisting that he wore his sunglasses on his hat to display the logo more clearly. Then CLB-reject, Sreekar came into the attack. He is not a natural sw***er of the new ball, rather an unnatural sw***er of the old ball. He was the pick of the bowlers but had no luck with 2-3 catches missed and numerous edges and mish*ts landing in the gaps, with some going to the boundary.
Despite good death bowling, and Karthik redeeming himself with Oakley with two fantastic grabs, Gelsenkirchen posted 197 in their 20 overs.
The reply was disappointing. CLK bravely kept up with the challenging run rate throughout their innings. Unfortunately, the home side, although less talented than our bowlers, knew where to bowl and where to set the field. The batsmen were not able to stay at the crease for long, run rate pressure bringing our downfall. No partnership of over 31 was formed, again a familiar sight for the CLS captain. CLK fought well but conceded the game ending on 133 all out with more than three overs remaining.
The final difference was a clear and concise message from the captain: "We will learn more from defeat than from victory." As we conclude our season at home, it's crucial that we correct our mistakes. With determination and focus, we can still achieve our goal of becoming national champions in 2025.

UNBELIEVABLE VICTORY! CLS DOMINATES FV PLOCHINGEN in Game2!

What an absolute masterclass from the Karlsruhe Cricket Lions today! If you weren't there, you missed a spectacle! 🔥

Our batsmen came out firing on all cylinders where Murtaza was an absolute force of nature, smashing an incredible 67 off just 39 balls – pure power hitting! And not to be outdone, Keshav Ramachandran lit up the scoreboard with a brilliant 56 off 34, while Zeeshan Ahmad Nawaz added the explosive finishing touches with 41 off 21. Together, they powered us to a massive 223/7! What a display of batting prowess! 🤩

Then, our bowlers stepped up and showed exactly why we're a force to be reckoned with! Every wicket was a testament to their skill and determination. Hassan led the charge with crucial wickets, and the entire team chipped in to restrict FV Plochingen to 185/7. They fought hard, but our Lions were hungrier!

The result? A commanding 38-run victory for CLS! This wasn't just a win; it was a statement!

A huge shoutout to every single player for their incredible performance and to our amazing supporters for bringing the energy! This is what teamwork and passion look like!

CLS Match Report – The Day We Got Ploch’d

What started as a hopeful day at the office quickly turned into a T20 horror film for CLS – and unfortunately, we were the extras who didn’t make it to the sequel.

FV Plochingen came out swinging like they had dinner plans – and oh boy, did they swing hard. Venkat M went full beast mode, smashing an unbeaten 105 off 58. Nishant S added a cool 51, and with the help of 37 generous extras (yep, we helped), they posted a ridiculous 214/6. That’s not a target; that’s a trauma.

Then came our chase...

Srivatsan opened with intent, but fell for 18, trying to swing momentum our way.
Ghulam tried to hang in there but got bowled for 2, while Fyzan went into defensive mode and couldn’t get going, managing just 3.
Keshav showed flashes of resistance with a six but was caught soon after for 14.

From there... it was chaos.
Amarjeet hit a breezy 13, and Zeeshan hung around for 7, but wickets were tumbling like dominoes.
Lalitkumar, Nabil, Hilal, and Ehsanullah couldn’t add much – and Anthony watched it all unfold from the other end, stranded on 0 (1)* like a soldier without an army.

We were bundled out for 81 in 13.1 overs. Let that sink in – we had 41 balls left and still couldn’t survive.

That’s a 133-run loss, and yes, we’ll be having some long hard net sessions (and possibly therapy).

Lessons were learned, spirits were bruised, but the league’s not over. We dust off, reset, and come back stronger.

Match report CLK vs Erlangen :
SSC CLK clinched a thrilling 14-run win over ECC-I in a high-intensity T20 encounter.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, SSC CLK posted 154 in 18.4 overs, thanks to a blazing 54 off just 17 balls from Marvin Armstrong, and a composed half-century from Vijayashankar B. Chikkannaiah (50 off 46). A late cameo by Sadaqat Khan (20 off 11) pushed the total past 150.
Despite a dangerous 58 from ECC-I’s Ullas Bharadwaj, our bowlers held their nerve. Ashok Srinivasan led the charge with 3 wickets, ably supported by Zahid Zadran, Afraz Sultan, and Rohit Khare, each picking up 2 wickets. ECC-I were bowled out for 140 in 19.1 overs.
A strong all-round performance secured an important win for SSC CLK as we continue our journey in the DCB T20 Bundesliga 2025! 💪🏏

Match report Bundesliga:
In a close-fought contest at home, SSC CLK fell short by just 8 runs against Kiel Lions in the DCB T20 Bundesliga 2025.
After winning the toss, Kiel Lions chose to bat first and posted a competitive total of 166/8 in 20 overs. Our bowlers showed great intent, especially Tirth Shah (4-0-20-2) and Khudai Noor Ahmadzai (4-0-24-2), who kept things tight in the middle overs.
Chasing 167, SSC CLK started aggressively with Marvin Armstrong smashing 27 off 11 balls. Ihsanullah Safi was the standout with the bat, blasting 33 off just 16 balls, including 4 sixes. Despite valuable contributions from Bharat Kumar Gowda (26) and Karthik Rajashekaraiah (22), we were bowled out for 158 in 19.5 overs.
Khalid Mahmood of Kiel Lions proved to be the difference, picking up 3 crucial wickets.
Although we came up short, the team showed strong character and fighting spirit. We’ll come back stronger in the next match!

Match Summary: FV Plochingen Defeat CLB by 93 Runs in Tough 50-Over Battle

On a hot and sunny day, CLB lost the toss and were asked to field first against FV Plochingen in a 50-over clash. The bowlers started well, with Zeeshan and Hakim delivering tight powerplay spells and picking up a wicket each to keep the scoring in check.

However, a big third-wicket partnership between Plochingen’s number 3 and 4 batters—both of whom scored composed half-centuries—shifted the momentum. CLB’s spinners and Nisar, brought the team back into the contest with crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

Despite this fightback, Plochingen’s lower order capitalized on some poor fielding by CLB, taking the total to a strong 254. Top bowling performers for CLB included Nisar (2 for 28), Hakim (2 for 31), and Hardik (2 for 54).

In response, CLB began their chase positively. Openers Jatin (48) and Fyzan (25) batted with intent and put on 66 runs for the first wicket. But just as the foundation was set, a mini-collapse before the drinks break left CLB reeling at 92 for 4.

Murtaza (31) and Keshav (24) mounted a counterattack, adding a brisk 50+ partnership to revive the chase. However, a series of soft dismissals and rash shots led to a dramatic collapse from 151 for 4 to 161 all out.

CLB ultimately fell short by 93 runs. With valuable lessons from this outing, CLB now looks to regroup and come back stronger as they kick off their T20 season.
