DREE BÖKEN-BRED STAKKATO GOLD – NOW AMONG THE WORLD’S TOP SIRES

Stakkato Gold has been among the leading stallions in the German FN breeding value evaluation for many years. In the latest 2025 FN evaluation, he is once again listed among the top 5% of jumping sires for the highest level reached by their offspring and among the top 1% in the FN tournament sport breeding value. Now, according to De Paardenkrant, he has also reached No. 6 in the HorseTelex Results A-ranking.

The Dutch equestrian newspaper De Paardenkrant has taken this as an opportunity to publish a detailed portrait of Stakkato Gold and his breeding history.

Stakkato Gold was born at Dree Böken in 2001, bred by Arend Kamphorst out of Wertherröschen (Werther × Libero H × Calypso II). Wertherröschen later competed internationally up to 1.55m with Michael Whitaker and Billy Twomey.

At the Hanoverian licensing in 2003, Stakkato Gold became a premium stallion and was considered the best jumping stallion of the licensing. He was sold at the following auction to Gestüt Sprehe.

According to De Paardenkrant, 139 of his offspring competed at FEI level during the past twelve months. One of the best known is Stargold with Marcus Ehning, winner of the 2023 Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen.

Jan Sprehe calls Stakkato Gold a true “stamp stallion”. His offspring are often easy to recognise: modern, quick, careful and light-footed. He is 25 now and still active as a breeding stallion so there are hopefully still plenty of Stakkato Golds coming through! https://www.gestuet-sprehe.de/de/pferde/stakkato-gold.html

ALUMNI | TANNENBERG DREE BOEKEN

Two gold medals for Tannenberg Dree Boeken this summer:

At the Nordic-Baltic Championships in Strömsholm, Malou Therese Mulbjerg Larsen and Tannenberg became Junior Champions – individually and together with the Danish team.

A few weeks later they represented Denmark at the European Championships for Juniors in Hagen, where Tannenberg jumped clear in both rounds of the team competition.

Check out this clipof the two at FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Youth 2026 Zuidwolde
Anemone Prize: https://www.clipmyhorse.tv/de_DE/ondemand/event/19456/competition/456164?start_at=17043576

We bred Tannenberg in 2016. He is an approved stallion by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve × Darco × Stakkato Gold × Vulkano. His international career started early: at six, he competed with Christian Svendgaard at the WBFSH World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, finishing 16th in the final.

There is quite a bit of Dree Böken history behind him as well. His mother Darcos Rose Dree Boeken is out of our Silberrose Dree Boeken and has produced several international showjumpers.

Congratulations to Malou and Tannenberg on this great season so far. It is a pleasure to follow you guys!

ALUMNI | BARBAROSSA DREE BOEKEN

Barbarossa Dree Boeken was born at our stud in 2016. He is by Vagabond de la Pomme × Goldfever × Coupe de Coeur and comes from the Hanoverian dam line of Algave.

Today, he is ridden by Brazil’s Camila Mazza de Benedicto and we are proud to see a horse we bred in such experienced hands.

Barbarossa already competed at the WBFSH World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken as a seven-year-old. Since then, he has made his way into international Grand Prix sport.

At the end of last year, he finished second in the CSI2 Grand Prix of Mechelen (1.45m)* with two clear rounds.

And 2026 has been a good year for him so far. He was placed in the Grand Prix in Opglabbeek, has competed up to 1.60m and in June won at the CSIO3-W in Budapest*. https://www.clipmyhorse.tv/de_DE/ondemand/event/18821/competition/465432?start_at=17376804

We bred Barbarossa ten years ago, so it is particularly nice to see him doing so well today. We will certainly keep following him.

There have always been trends in breeding. Certain stallions become very popular, particular bloodlines are suddenly everywhere and breeding goals change over time.
Of course, we follow these developments and yes – breeding has to evolve and so does ours. We constantly look at incorporating new bloodlines and what modern sport demands from a ahorse.

But development is different from following a trend. For us, the important qualities have remained remarably consistent: soundness, rideability, willingness to perform and a good character.

Our aim is to breed horses that prove themselves in the long run. What matters to us is not which stallion is fashionable today, but whether the breeding decision we make today still looks like a good one ten years from now – while at the same time every generation should be an improvement to the one before.

That is how dreeboeken understands progress in breeding.

Three foals, thereof two international showjumpers, and afterwards an international career up to 1.50m herself - this is the story of Silberrose Dree Boeken – and one of the reasons why also this Stakkato Gold × Vulkano mare has become an important part of our breeding.

Silberrose herself is a Stakkato Gold × Vulkano × Calypso II x Wienerwald x Agram descendant. Following her two foals, Silberrose was a very successful showjumper up to 160 cm levels, first internationally with Pieter Clemens before moving to the US where she went on to win with McLain Ward.

But looking back, it is not only her own sport career that makes Silberrose special to us. It is what she has passed on – and the influence she continues to have on our breeding until today:

Golden Eye Dree Boeken by Goldfever is one of her descendants. He was a licensed stallion, competed up to 1.60m, won the CSIO4* Grand Prix of Warsaw with Lars Bak Andersen and is now competing with Denmark’s Caroline Rehoff Pedersen. This year, we have three foals by Golden Eye at Dree Boeken – still bringing Silberrose`s genetics back into the next generation of our breeding.

Cardentos Rose Dree Boeken by Cardento is successful internationally, she won the 145 National U25 Grand Prix in 2022 and today is with Margareth Eikner. Before, she was already mother to Kings Rose Dree Boeken (successful at 155m levels under the sattle of Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli) and Vulkanos Rose Dree Boeken.

Long before the first competition. Long before one knows where and how far they will go. This is where it all starts.

A place where horses come first: Space to move, good company, and time to grow, surrounded by the forests and lakes of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, just outside Berlin.

World Champions in Aachen. What a result.

Congratulations to the German show jumping team on winning World Championship gold in Aachen!

Congratulations to Marcus, Daniel Deusser, Sophie Hinners, Richard Vogel, Otto Becker and the whole German team. A fantastic performance.

Winning a World Championship is one thing. Doing it in Aachen, in front of a home crowd, makes it even more special.

And a special congratulations to Marcus Ehning. Three clear rounds with Coolio, another team world title, and 16 years after the German victory in Lexington, he is right back on top.

Every day, we observe our horses. Every day, they observe us.
Our horses tell us something. Not with words, but through their behaviour.

How they move across the pasture - how they interact within the herd - how they react to unfamiliar situations.

Careful observation often reveals small changes long before they become real problems. Over the years, we have learned that successful breeding is not only about making good decisions.

It is also about recognising the right moment to act. Good breeders spend as much time watching as they do planning.

Dree Boeken Alumni: Loewenkoenig Dree Boeken
Born in 2014, Loewenkoenig Dree Boeken was the first Hanoverian-approved son of the legendary Darco.
His pedigree reflects generations of Dree Boeken breeding: Darco × King Kolibri × Vulkano FRH while both King Kolibri and Vulkano FRH were bred at Dree Boeken, making Loewenkoenig a combination of internationally proven bloodlines of our own breeding program.
Following his approval, Loewenkoenig stood at the State Stud Celle's EU breeding station in Adelheidsdorf before going abroad. Today, Loewenkoenig continues his sporting career in South Africa with Grand Prix rider Sandy Manasse of Ascot Stables and we are proud to see another Dree Boeken horse performing at the highest level internationally.

“Trust is the foundation of confidence.” - Arend Kamphorst

At Dree Boeken, young horses spend a lot of time with people from the very beginning. Nothing spectacular - just the things that later make everyday life easier. Being handled. Being led. Standing tied. Regular hoof care. Loading onto the trailer.

And then there is everything outside the stable. We walk them in the woods. They see tractors and farm machinery. Other animals. New places. Strange noises. Sometimes we simply rub them with a plastic bag and see what happens.

Every horse reacts differently. That is exactly why we treat them as individuals. When the time comes to start under saddle, we want them to already know one thing very well. They can trust people, deal with new situations and stay confident.

For us, Education starts long before the first ride.
