It is the oldest still existing hockey-club in Germany. The German hockey-team at the Olympic Games 1908 in London was a pure UHC-team. 1923, only a short time after the end of World War I, the very courageous members bought approx. 50.000 sqm of ground in the outskirts of Hamburg the address at which the club is situated today still. The first professional hockey coach was employed in 1959. His
name was Swarup Singh Pawar, at that time a very well known player of the Indian national team. Since 1905 the UHC organizes big international Hockey tournaments. During the last 18 years UHC hosted already 11 times the Hamburg Masters, a tournament for 4 national mens teams with a ranking within the top 6 of the world. German Championships:

Various youth teams since 1994. Today the club has approx. 2.000 members. They play tennis on 24 courts 18 outside and 6 indoors. Hockey is played on 2 water and 1 grass pitches and in the indoor hockey hall, which belongs to the club. UHC is the club with the most teams in Germany, that are: 5 men and 4 women teams, 16 senior and late beginners and approx. 45 youth teams.
