Founded by Expats in 1966, the club today comprises of rugby players from many nations such as England, France, Germany, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain and many others. We are a melting pot from many countries, professional backgrounds and ages. Players of all skill levels and newcomers are most welcome to join us. We play passionately and hard, but always find time for a great party afterwards. We o

ffer a warm welcome and an "island refuge" for lovers of rugby whether in Hamburg for just a few months, several years or not seldom settling down here for ever. For over 40 years the club has hosted the Hamburg Exiles Rugby Sevens on the last May week-end, featuring international touring teams and German clubs alike.

2026 marks a very special milestone for the Hamburg Exiles Rugby Club as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary.

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a full day of rugby, entertainment, and celebration, culminating in our 60th Anniversary Summer Ball.

📅 Date: Saturday, 5 September 2026
📍 Location: Exiles at Saarlandstraße Verbandsheim
💶 Ticket Price: €65 per person
Event Schedule

13:30 – Old Exiles vs Old Boys
15:00 – Exiles vs TBC
16:30 – Children’s Touch Rugby
18:00 – Welcome Drinks and Official Event Start at the Verbandsheim

Your ticket includes a buffet dinner and a welcome drink. Additional drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

Throughout the day and evening there will be live music, speeches, and entertainment, followed by a DJ to keep the celebrations going into the night.

We hope you can join us as we celebrate 60 years of rugby, friendship, and Exiles spirit.

Yesterday, marked the Hamburg Exiles’ final home match against , and it was a crucial game in which we were aiming to secure second place in the table ahead of .

Bremen fielded a powerful forward pack, ensuring that our front row had to give all they have against a relatively heavier Bremen forward line. It was a physically hard-fought match with various injuries, broken noses and minor surgical procedures on the sidelines.

Bremen fought hard right up to the last minute, but couldn’t score enough against a more agile-looking Exiles side. Thanks to the hard work of the front row and the subsequent quick counter-attacks from our backline, Bremen were powerless for the majority of the match.

We are therefore delighted to take this important victory and look forward to the remaining two tough away games against the league leaders and the fourth-placed team .rugby .

This Saturday, there is the second rematch from last year’s Verbandsliga final against .So far we have won all matches but we expect a hard and physical fight next Saturday. 🔥

Mission accomplished🔥🔥

Our Exiles showed real character in this hard-fought match. The score doesn’t reflect the intensity and the fight put up by your favourite players.

After a flying start, marked by a try in the first five minutes, the red and blacks allowed the Bremen players to push back into our 22-metre line. With some fine defence and a great team spirit, the Exiles repelled their opponents’ attacks.

The second half was more open as the numerous scrums in this match tired the forwards and allowed the backs to exploit the spaces. Sticking to the game plan, the Exiles were able to play their game and put on an entertaining display.

A big thank you to for a third-half reception worthy of the values of Rugby that we share and strive to develop in our respective towns.

We are already looking forward to the return match in just under a month’s time.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN! 🚌💪🏻

Our lads are hitting the road this Saturday for an away game against ! After three wins in a row, it's now time for the first rescheduled match against Bremen. The Exiles absolutely must pick up more crucial points to keep pace with the team in second place .
The team has been training hard to improve their performance even further for the upcoming matches.
Friends and supporters are all welcome to travel with us by train to Bremen.
