Modern Arnis is a very effective Filipino martial art and self defense system, founded by the late Professor Remy Amador Presas, the 'Father' of Modern Arnis. The rattan sticks are the most known weapons used in Filipino martial arts but also different bladed weapons will be used in training, helping you to learn to defend yourself against armed and unarmed attacker, Modern Arnis is a complete sys

tem with locks, throws, disarms, ground techniques, releases, hand and foot techniques, pressure point applications. It can also help martial artists from other styles to deepen their understanding, expanding and enhancing their main style by Modern Arnis' concept of 'The art within your art'. Professor Presas appointed 7 successors of which 4 are still active and honored them with the title "Master of Tapi Tapi" for achieving the highest proficiency in the art of Modern Arnis. The title is beyond all black belt ranks in the art.
1992 Professor Presas asked Master of Tapi Tapi Gabriele Roloff to estabish his organization, the "International Modern Arnis Federation" for Europe.

On Aug 28, 2001, Professor Remy A. Presas, the Founder and Grandmaster of Modern Arnis, passed away.

It’s hard to believe that 24 years have passed since he left us, far too early.

For many of us, it seems like yesterday.

I am sure those reading this will remember where they were when the heartbreaking news came.

He is undoubtedly one of the greatest martial artists of all time and influenced many martial arts during his lifetime.

He left behind many students who continue to teach and spread his beloved Modern Arnis.

He taught us more than just his beloved art of Modern Arnis. He taught us Filipino culture. He taught us how to make connections between different martial arts.

More importantly, he taught us the importance of connections between martial arts instructors and human beings.

He left many students worldwide who have continued to teach and propagate the art to future generations since his passing.

Among them are Professors Chuck Gauss, Ken Smith, and Gaby Roloff. They continue to propagate the art in honor of their beloved teacher and founder of the art, Professor Presas.

Professor, you will never be forgotten.

I needed a moment to post about the sad news of Professor Will Higginbotham's passing. It still feels very surreal. Will was a very good friend and colleague, and an inspirational teacher with an amazing wealth of knowledge in the lineage of the 'Big Three'.
I am grateful for the many times we spent in Hamburg together and also in the US. where we created great memories. With Will we are loosing not only an exceptional martial artist and teacher
but also a wonderful person which sense of humor I really enjoyed. He will be missed by many around the globe.
