My spouse and I arrived in Germany last May, 2022. Before arriving here, we were stationed at a base that had a pool where I worked as a lifeguard. At the time they could not offer swimming lessons because of a staff shortage. I took this as an opportunity to "dive" right into teaching lessons to those who inquired about it. On my off time I would schedule lessons with all ranges of ages and skill
levels. It may be surprising but there were a lot of soldiers who could not swim at all and would try and teach themselves. Or there were some that just did not have the skill level to pass various tests, or even personal goals. I also had different families who watched these swim lessons that would ask for their little ones. I would teach children from ages 6 months to teenagers. I have also been asked by older people who just wanted to be more comfortable in the water, and learn the basics. With all that being said, my background with swimming started as a baby. I grew up with a pool in my backyard and my dad taught me how to swim. Eventually in middle school I joined my local swim team until highschool where I joined that team. I then became a Lifeguard for a summer job, and learned how to teach the young campers how to swim in a group setting. From there I have been a lifeguard for a couple following summers and have had all my certifications up to date, including First Aid and CPR. Teaching has always been my biggest passion. I have such an excitement for watching others learn, grow, and improve on their skills. It truly brings me joy when I can help others in a truly life changing skill. Not only is swimming fun, but feeling comfortable and confident in the water could save your life.
