Born in Greece, I was 8 years old when I was diagnosed with a scoliosis of my spine. I underwent spinal fusion surgery 7 years later and it was during this challenging journey of rehabilitation that I was introduced to the Pilates method. Like so many people, I experienced first hand the incredible benefits of Pilates, and so, after practising for about 11 years, I decided to fully embrace the te
chnique by training to become a teacher. I completed my qualification with "Body Control Pilates". I studied for an Active IQ level 3 Diploma in instructing Pilates Matwork (QCF) REP's and Reformer at ‘Body Control Pilates’ in London. This Diploma focused on the fundamentals of the Pilates Method, developing a solid scientific understanding of human anatomy, in order to teach safely any type of client. It has provided the knowledge of how to teach the client the right movement, obeying to the needs of his or her own body and applying at the same time the eight Pilates principles: Concentration, Relaxation, Alignment, Breathing, Centring, Co-ordination, Flowing Movement, Stamina. During this course I focused in particular on Pregnancy and Post Natal Pilates, Pilates for Scoliosis and Older Person, Pilates for Children 5-16yrs, as well as on the dynamic version of Pilates on the mat and using Pilates machine, the Reformer. I am trained to teach Pilates on the ball, Standing Pilates, Pilates with small equipment and Pilates with apparatus, Reformer, as well as Endurolates(Pilates circuit dynamic version). More recently I have dedicated myself to providing high quality sessions to corporate clients. As my first degree was in management and finance, I used to work long hours in an office and I have a deep understanding of the needs of a hard working employee. Relaxation via mobilisation provides the best recipe for less stress and muscle strength at the same time. As a Pilates teacher , I am committed to providing high quality sessions by recognising clients’ needs. I have the ability to identify the imbalances in the student’s body and to instruct the appropriate exercises to improve those deficits. Clients under my care improve their body awareness, improve posture, improve mental clarity, increase flexibility, reduce stress and musculoskeletal pains.
