Constellation in the Southern Hemisphere ✨

One of the most distinguish constellations in the Southern hemisphere is the Southern Cross. It is visible all year round, like the Plough in the Northern hemisphere. The Southern Cross is made up of four stars forming a cross and the two Pointers.

Wildlife Wednesday 🐾

Each zebra has a unique stripe pattern like a bar code or a fingerprint. When zebras are born, the mother will screen her foal – usually a single foal - from the herd in order to imprint her own stripe pattern on the youngster, ensuring recognition. By the way, the foal can stand on its own feet just 10 minutes after being born and it can walk within 30 minutes.

Collective nouns for Africa - An all-in-all wildlife guide for outdoor enthusiasts 📖🙋‍♀️

When I found this book in one of the book stores in one of the nature parks, I just couldn't resist. 😀 Of course, I have many of other wildlife guides, but this one is again different and wonderful.
Have you ever wondered what you call a large number of creatures congregated together? And how the different gender are called?
For example: A number of porcupines is called a prickle, the male is a boar, the female is a sow and the baby is a porcupette.

There are more collective nouns to come - so stay tuned! :-D

🐎 VOLUNTEERING AT KHAYA HANCI HORSE + GAME RANCH 🐎

Anyone who appreciates the seclusion of the South African bush will find absolute paradise there! 🐘🦓🦒 The work on the farm varies, however there is always enough time for excursions and free time.

➡️ What we expect from you:

🐾 Duration of stay: minimum 4 weeks - maximum 3 months - extension possible.
🐾 Good riding skills are an advantage.
🐾 Don't be afraid of dogs.
🐾 You should be sporty and agile, there is always something to do on the farm.
🐾 Good knowledge of English is also an advantage. (for our German volunteers 🙂)
🐾 You are 18+, have a driver's license and driving experience and are not afraid of left-hand traffic.
You are a practically oriented person who can get things done and doesn't have two left hands.
🐾 You are open and with a good sense of humor and can work well in a team.
🐾 You are vaccinated against Corona.

Color your life ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Life can be so colorful! I found this beautiful stand on the Irene Village Market at the Big Red Barn in Olifantsfontein near Pretoria. This wonderful market is famous for its South African handmade arts and crafts and is situated on the beautiful grounds of the Sunlawns Estate overlooking vast grasslands and the Kaal river. The market is open every 1st and last Saturday of the month and definitely worth a visit. 🤩
