Classic Formula 1 Car - 🏁 Brabham BT59 – 1990 - What's your memories about this F1 car ?

The Brabham BT59 represents a fascinating era in Formula 1, at the crossroads between the late 1980s and early 1990s, when small private teams were still competing against major manufacturers.

Designed by Sergio Rinland and Hans Fouche, the BT59 featured a carbon-fibre and Kevlar monocoque. It was powered by a 3.5-litre Judd EV V8 producing around 640 hp at 12,500 rpm, coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The car made its debut at the 1990 San Marino Grand Prix, driven by Stefano Modena and David Brabham, son of legendary three-time World Champion Jack Brabham. Lighter and featuring a longer wheelbase than the BT58, the BT59 received a new transverse gearbox and revised rear-end design during the season. However, reliability issues and a lack of competitiveness limited its results.

The 1990 season ended with just 2 points in the Constructors' Championship, scored by Stefano Modena with the BT58, while Brabham finished a modest 10th in the Constructors' standings.

But the story didn't end there… 👀
