After being removed from the list of referees for the World Cup, many believed that Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan had suffered a major setback in his officiating career. However, what followed was far greater than any tournament appointment. 😮

Upon his return to Mogadishu, he received a hero’s welcome, with huge crowds gathering at the airport and stadium to celebrate him in a moving display of the respect and admiration he enjoys among the Somali people. 🇸🇴🏟️

The recognition did not stop there. Somalia’s president personally received and honored him in appreciation of his achievements and career, while a Somali businessman awarded him a $50,000 bonus in recognition of his accomplishments. 👏💰

Then came the biggest moment of all, when UEFA selected him to officiate the UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa, making history as the first African referee ever to take charge of a UEFA Super Cup final. 🔥🌍❤️

It is a story that proves obstacles can sometimes become the beginning of an even greater journey toward glory. ✨👏

What the United States national team produced today was the very definition of dominance.

The USA thrashed Paraguay 4–1 in a match that demonstrated why they have been the strongest team at the World Cup so far.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a truly outstanding side. He deployed a system close to a 3-2-5 formation, using Dest and Robinson as advanced wing-backs to stretch Paraguay’s full-backs and create space. He also positioned Pulisic and McKennie in the half-spaces, taking advantage of their direct running and ability to attack the gaps between the full-back and center-back.

What makes it even more impressive is that Pochettino understands the profile of the American player: physically strong, energetic, and naturally inclined toward direct football. He has created a tactical framework that allows his players to exploit spaces, attack quickly, and reach the opposition goal with minimal touches, while still maintaining clear structure and organization.

A magnificent opening performance from the tournament hosts, and a powerful statement to the rest of the competition. 👏❤️

💣🦁 Zlatan Ibrahimović was asked yesterday:

"Who is better, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?"

In his usual confident style, he replied without hesitation:

🎙️ "I’ll choose Messi."

He pointed out that Messi only needed 20 minutes to make the difference against Iceland, while Ronaldo played 80 minutes against Nigeria and missed several chances in front of goal.

Many people believe that one of the biggest differences between the two stars at international level lies in the amount of responsibility each carries on the pitch.

Ronaldo has a national team capable of sharing a large part of the burden with him, whereas Messi has often found himself carrying Argentina on his shoulders and providing solutions when no one else could.

For that reason, Messi remains, in the eyes of many football fans, the more influential and entertaining player, and one of the greatest to ever play the game.

South Korea delivered a truly impressive performance against the Czech Republic, earning a deserved 2-1 victory. The scoreline could have been much bigger had they been more clinical in front of goal.

The Korean side stood out for their excellent organization, fluid passing, and ability to reach the final third with very few touches. Their strong mentality was equally impressive, as they came from behind while remaining faithful to their style of play.

A performance worthy of the World Cup stage and a clear display of high-quality football. 🇰🇷👏❤️

History repeats itself after 36 years as an African team receives two red cards in a FIFA World Cup opening match.

But the first time was completely different. In their opening game of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy against defending champions Argentina, Cameroon had two players sent off. Despite that, they managed to secure a famous 1–0 victory over Diego Maradona's teammates.

Maradona and Claudio Caniggia endured such relentless physical challenges throughout the match that it was enough to leave lasting memories for years to come.

José Mourinho has reportedly played a key role in bringing Bernardo Silva closer to Real Madrid. The Portuguese manager personally contacted the midfielder, expressing his admiration for Silva’s leadership qualities, professionalism, and team-first mentality. That conversation is said to have influenced the player’s decision to delay talks with both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, making Real Madrid his most likely destination.

The move is considered highly important for Real Madrid for several reasons. First, it would be a free transfer. Second, Bernardo possesses the ability to control the tempo of the game, organize attacks, and bring composure to midfield—qualities the club has arguably missed since the departure of Luka Modrić.

After previously being linked with Atlético Madrid and later Barcelona during the transfer window, Bernardo Silva now appears closer to joining Real Madrid, with Mourinho’s intervention reportedly playing a significant part in the change of direction. ❤️

In a remarkable achievement, Dismas Shida Athanasi stole the spotlight at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations by winning the tournament's Golden Boot, despite being the youngest player in the entire competition. 🤯🇹🇿

The Tanzanian wonderkid, born on 26 December 2011, helped lead his country to the AFCON final and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, attracting interest from several European clubs along the way.

What makes his feat even more incredible is that he was only 14 years old, competing against players aged 16 and 17. Despite the significant age gap, he outperformed them all and finished as the tournament's top scorer, further proving that he is a truly special talent to watch. 👏🏽🔥

Is Florentino Pérez really about to shake up the transfer market once again?

Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger reported yesterday that Real Madrid have inquired about Julián Álvarez's situation, and were informed that Atlético Madrid would be willing to sell him for €150 million if an offer of that magnitude were submitted.

Meanwhile, Spanish journalist José Luis Sánchez claims that the blockbuster signing Pérez has promised — the one that would cost €150 million — will come as a huge surprise to everyone. He added that when he learned the player's identity, he was genuinely shocked, but has been instructed not to reveal any details because the official offer is expected to be submitted tomorrow.

From a footballing perspective, Julián Álvarez would be a dream signing. He is the type of striker who can bring balance to the team through his link-up play, attacking development, finishing ability, and knack for creating space for Kylian Mbappé, who could thrive alongside him in a more flexible attacking role. Defensively, Álvarez is also invaluable thanks to his relentless pressing, work rate, and endless running.

However, the current reality suggests that Álvarez prefers a move to Barcelona, and reports indicate that an agreement between the player and the Catalan club is already in place. If that is true, the Argentine forward could become the biggest story of this transfer window.

🗣️ Marquinhos:

"When Gabriel missed the penalty, I was about to celebrate, but then I saw him right in front of me. It instantly brought back memories of the exact same situation I went through when I missed my penalty against Croatia at the 2022 World Cup.

At that moment, all I felt was empathy for him because I know how painful that feeling is. When I missed mine, I wished someone had come over immediately to support me and help me through it.

That's why I went to hug him and told him to keep his head up and stay strong. I reminded him that he had played a great match, enjoyed an exceptional season, and that, in my opinion, he is the best defender in the world."
