A new chapter begins for the French Alps! 🏔️✨

The official emblems of the Alpes 2030 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games have been unveiled, inspired by the vision of “a mountain revealed by light.”

Designed as complementary symbols, the two emblems reflect a shared identity that celebrates the beauty of the Alps while giving equal visibility, strength and recognition to both Olympism and Paralympism.

“The same mountain will unite the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030,” said Organising Committee President Edgar Grospiron.

Building on France’s remarkable Olympic legacy—from Chamonix 1924 and Grenoble 1968 to Albertville 1992 and Paris 2024—Alpes 2030 promises to deliver another world-class celebration of winter sport, powered by expertise, passion and iconic mountain landscapes.

After 28 years of dedicated service as FIL Vice President Sport Artificial Track (1998–2026), 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼 has been awarded the 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 and inducted as an 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 of the International Luge Federation at the 74th FIL Congress in Berchtesgaden.

At the 74th FIL Congress in Berchtesgaden, the International Luge Federation unveiled 𝗪𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟰 — the strategic roadmap that will guide the development of our sport through the next two Olympic cycles and towards the Olympic Winter Games Utah 2034.

Built around 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀, the strategy focuses on growing and modernising luge, strengthening national federations, putting athletes at the heart of every decision, increasing media visibility, driving commercial growth, and ensuring strong governance and long-term sustainability.

Developed with the active contribution of athletes, coaches, national federations and FIL officials, 𝗪𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟰 reflects a shared vision for the future of our sport.

The 33rd FIL Summer Luge Cup in Ilmenau once again showcased what makes this event so special: great atmosphere, fair competition, and flawless organisation.

With 71 athletes from six nations 🇩🇪 🇦🇹 🇨🇿 🇸🇰 🇱🇻 🇧🇬, the event recorded its strongest international participation since 2020, highlighting the growing strength of summer luge competition.

In the elite categories, Germany dominated the podiums. Paul Gubitz claimed victory in the men's race ahead of Hannes Orlamünder, while Austria’s Junior World Champion 2025, Paul Socher, impressed with third place ahead of his upcoming senior World Cup debut. In the women's competition, Josephine Buse took the win, followed by Antonia Pietschmann and Helena Trampe.

The future of the sport was also on display in Youth A, with Leander Nitsche and Nina Grumser securing the top spots.

A successful edition of a competition that continues to bring together talent, tradition, and international friendship on the iconic Wolfram Fiedler track. 🛷

The 74th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL), held in Berchtesgaden, brought together delegates from 35 countries to shape the future of the sport.

🇱🇻 𝗘𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀 was re-elected as FIL President for another four-year term, reaffirming his commitment to leading international luge through its next chapter.

The Congress also confirmed key leadership positions, including:

🇩🇪 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗮𝗯 as Vice President Marketing

The Congress also recognized the outstanding contribution of 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼 (𝗨𝗦𝗔), awarding her Honorary Membership and the FIL Diamond Medal of Honor after 28 years of service to the federation.

The 𝟳𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻 welcomed delegates from 𝟯𝟱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, reflecting the continued growth and global reach of the international luge community.

A particularly significant milestone was the participation of a representative from 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 for the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀. This important development underscores the expanding presence of luge around the world and the ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen the 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

The second and final day of the 74th FIL Congress 2026 has officially begun in Berchtesgaden.

Following the valuable exchanges and technical discussions of the opening day, delegates and representatives have reconvened to continue addressing key topics shaping the future of the International Luge Federation.

A highlight of the opening day of the 𝟳𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻 was the presentation of the 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿, the highest distinction of the International Luge Federation, to 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 who have dedicated decades of service to luge.

Congratulations to 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗿ä𝗵𝗲, a valued member of the 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 since 1994, whose expertise and commitment continue to support the federation.

A special tribute was also paid to 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼, Olympic athlete, team manager, and 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁/𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 for 28 years. After an extraordinary 36-year career with the FIL, she was awarded the 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 and inducted into the prestigious circle of 𝗙𝗜𝗟 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀.

The Congress also looked ahead to the future. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲, Sport Director of the 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀, presented an overview of the Olympic program and the preparations for the upcoming Games.

Subsequently, 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀, General Manager of the La Plagne track, presented the 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 at the French Alps 2030 Olympic Winter Games.
