SHORT DESRIPTION
The project intends to introduce wilderness therapy (WT) method in an area of V4 countries. This method is used with great success abroad (USA, Australia, UK), but has minimal presence here.
Training in WT method will be organized under the guidance of a foreign expert. The second goal is to establish platform for exchanging experiences of NGOs working in the social reintegration of the problematic youth. In addition to sharing best practices, website and scientific article will be produced.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The project has three phases. The first phase aims to create network of organizations and gather workers in youth re-socialization processes and provide space for sharing of their best practice. The two-day conference will be arranged - each participant will present his organization and methods of
work. This will be followed by guided discussions for exchanging experiences and new ideas and bestpractices. The results will be summarized in publishable form.
The second phase aims to introduce WT into V4 region. So far, this therapeutic method does not have its application in an institutionalized form here. A systematic approach is missing. The content of the second phase is therefore to organize a seven-day training of WT, where under the guidance of an expert from Wilderness Therapy Foundation (UK), participants will experience WT practice. The theory will be implemented into action, participants will be able to continuously discuss the terms of the activities, their objectives and goals. As the result, participants will be trained in the method of WT.
The third phase includes two parts. In the first one, participants will have to put methods learned on thecourse into practice - organizing short outdoor trip using WT techniques in the group they usually work with. They will keep a record of proposed activities that will serve as material for further application of WT in V4 space. The second part of third phase will consist of a day workshop, which will include comparison and discussions about the experiences and observation of organized trips. This will lead to creation of recommendations for WT guides in V4 area. Moreover, data gathered at this final meeting will be used as resources for following research resulting in article published in a scientific journal.
