Żejtun Corinthians youngster heads to Lithuanian club on trial
Żejtun Corinthians player Iker Pace is headed to Lithuania where he will undergo a one-week trial at BE1 Nacionaline.
Pace was one of the players who caught the eye during the training camp organised by Scouting Connection and Soccerscouting Benelux in Malta, back in July.
Under the coaching guidance of former West Germany international Wolfgang Rolff, this training camp was organised in collaboration with Żejtun Corinthians and KSi Malta.
2003-born Pace is part of the Żejtun Corinthians’ squad in this season’s Challenge League campaign.
At BE1 Nacionaline, he will be joining the first-team which comprises several young players as part of their club policy.
In fact, the Lituanian club is reknowned for its work among youth players and is often invited to participate in several high-profile tournaments at youth level.
Recently, they took part in an international U-16’s tournament alongside the likes of Juventus, Roma and Milan.
In September, BE1’s 2005-born player Ernestas Gudulevicius signed a professional contract with Fiorentina, highlighting the reputation that the Lithuanian club has in the football world.
During the 2021 season, BE1 finished second in the third-tier and they will be playing in next year’s Lithuanian second-tier.
