George’s Ranch is delighted to offer a dynamic new riding programme designed for children and young adults with special needs.
After hiring a new instructor specialising in working with youngsters on the autism spectrum and adding a fantastic state-of-the-art lunge pen to the centre’s already impressive facilities, the Ranch is now confident it can offer the very best experience to those who deserve it most.
The therapeutic benefits of contact with horses and ponies is well known among the equine community with horse riding being especially helpful in terms of strength development, balance and adding independence, freedom and fun to therapy sessions.
The Ranch already enjoys an enviable reputation on the island for its high standards and proven competition success in all equine disciplines, but yard owner Caroline Scambler has wanted for some time to bring the benefits of horse riding to youngsters who might benefit the most from the experience.
Now, with the addition of new trainer Elle, George’s Ranch is able to do just that.
Elle has spent the past six years working with children and young adults on the autistic spectrum in the UK. She also has 17 years riding experience. As well as being a very safe pair of hands, Elle is able to use her extensive knowledge to provide advice, training and positive behaviour techniques designed to the often unique requirements of individual families.

Elle has a B.H.S qualification and
CACHE Level 2 Child Care aswell as paediatric first aid skills. She also holds an approach training certificate for the handling of special needs children and knows Makaton (a type of sign language).
