I used to feel guilty about moments like this.
Feet up, view out, nothing to do for an hour. It felt like the opposite of working on my health, looking after my kids and working on my business.
Then I understood something that changed how I coach everyone over 40.
Your body doesn’t get stronger while you train. The workout is just the signal. The strength gets built afterward, while you sleep, while you sit still, while your nervous system finally settles. Skip the recovery and you’re not doing more. You’re piling up stress your body never gets to use.
The people still strong, mobile, and independent at 80 didn’t grind the hardest. They rested with purpose.
So this quiet hour isn’t me being lazy. It’s part of the work.
This week, give yourself one real recovery block and guard it like a workout. Even ten minutes counts🍃
