Biography of Vanessa Haska
Vanessa Haska studied at the Athens State School of Dance getting the diploma of Dance Teacher. Throughout her studies Vanessa attended several dance seminars in Cyprus, Greece, Germany and Austria. In 2000 she worked as a dancer for the Greek dance company Amalgama and in 2001 with a UK Government Dance and Drama award she got the Certificate of Higher Education in Con
temporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School. Having a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation, she then proceeded to postgraduate studies specializing in choreography and in 2004 she was awarded a Master of Arts with Distinction from London Contemporary Dance School (University of Kent). During her postgraduate studies she collaborated with the dance film makers Lucy Baldwyn and Sonia Rodriguez. Her work “Somewhere In My Stomach” became part of the repertory of the Postgraduate performance group “EDge” (London Contemporary Dance School) alongside works by established and highly respected choreographers such as Trisha Brown. She has also choreographed for the Devon Youth Dance Company, the “Shift” Youth Dance Company of London Contemporary Dance School, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, the London Studio Centre and the Scottish Contemporary Dance School, the Space. Her works have been shown in England - in theatres such as the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, the Bonnie Bird Theatre, the Riley Theatre and also in Scotland, Portugal and Denmark. In 2006 she was awarded the "Peter Darrell Choreographic Award" and made the work 'Sorry for the Missiles' for the National Scottish dance company, 'Scottish Dance Theatre'. The specific work was part of the company's repertory and it was also presented in the European Dance Festival of Cyprus in 2008 representing UK. In 2011 Vanessa made the work "Grown Up" presented at the Cypriot Dance Platform. Vanessa was also a teacher at the Royal Academy of Dance, London. She worked and taught for different organizations such as DanceEast and schools (dance schools, primary schools etc). She was a Guest Artist teacher at the University of Nicosia. She has also taught in different dance seminars. She is a member of Dance Teachers Association of Cyprus, Associated Board of Dance of the Uk and the International Dance Council, UNESCO. She now directs the 'DanceArT by Vanessa Haska', in Limassol, Cyprus.
ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟ ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ
Η Βανέσσα Χάσκα σπούδασε στην Κρατική Σχολή Ορχηστικής Τέχνης στην Αθήνα. Το 2001 με την Αγγλική υποτροφία “Dance and Drama award” συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στο London Contemporary Dance School, the Place όπου έλαβε το δίπλωμα σύγχρονου χορού. Με υποτροφία του Ωνασείου Ιδρύματος απέκτησε το Μaster of Arts/ Χορογραφία με βαθμό Άριστα (University of Kent) το 2004. Το κομμάτι της “Somewhere In My Stomach” αποτέλεσε μέρος του ρεπερτορίου της μεταπτυχιακής χορευτικής ομάδας “EDge” του London Contemporary Dance School δίπλα σε δουλειές καθιερωμένων διεθνώς χορογράφων όπως της Trisha Brown. Επίσης χορογράφησε για το “Devon” Youth Dance Company, το “Shift” Youth Dance Company of London Contemporary Dance School, το Northern School of Contemporary Dance, το London Studio Centre και το Scottish Contemporary Dance School. Οι δουλειές της έχουν παρουσιαστεί στην Αγγλία σε θέατρα όπως το Robin Howard Dance Theatre, το Bonnie Bird Theatre, το Riley Theatre και άλλα καθώς επίσης στη Σκωτία, στην Πορτογαλία και στη Δανία. Το Μάρτιο του 2005 έλαβε το βραβείο "Moving East Choreographic Residency" 2005. Το 2006 έλαβε το βραβείο "Peter Darrell Choreographic Award" και χορογράφησε για την εθνική ομάδα σύγχρονου χορού της Σκωτίας, Scottish Dance Theatre. Το έργο παρουσιάστηκε και στο Ευρωπαϊκό Φεστιβάλ Χορού 2008 στην Κύπρο. Ήταν δασκάλα της Βασιλικής Ακαδημίας Χορού του Λονδίνου καθώς και άλλων οργανισμών χορού στην Αγγλία. Εχει διδάξει σε πολλά σεμινάρια χορού. Έχει επίσης διδάξει ως Guest Artist στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Λευκωσίας. Είναι μέλος του Συνδέσμου Δασκάλων Χορού Κύπρου, του Associated Board of Dance, UK και του Διεθνούς Συμβουλίου Χορού , ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ. Από το 2019 διευθύνει το κέντρο χορού DanceArT.
